I hope the majority who perished never knew what hit them.

Mad Meg was married last year, in that area, if I remember right.
They keep saying it is a popular European vacation spot.
I would not be surprised if somebody from h2 was there or knows somebody. Ivan was waiting to hear a friend is OK.

Yes, there was just a news story(here) about the Sri Lankan community in the city & the unfortunate certainty that some must deal with - loss of family.(Related to this general coverage.)

Yes I believe Mad Meg was married in the general vicinity abbi & I believe someone I'd spoken to on a few other threads was vacationing with his wife, in the area! Certainly

I asked myself if south pole quacke around friday was start? may be domino effect or a stone is lake effect or disturbance of normal smaller shakes?

a mention on Sky news, was that the tech/plates over possibly a 1 thousand mile front had moved/slid, one under the other, that is a lot of earth movement at one go

My condolences Kat.
What a terrible tragedy.
I stayed in the town of Galle when I was working in Sri Lanka a couple of years ago, and I was most upset to hear of the floods and carnage there.
