Twinnys daughter finally got a job at a dental office.
Poor child was caught in the *need experience - no experience- cannot get experience* merry-go round of young life.
Sounds like a lovely man to work for.
He is willing to train her and happy she has no bad habits to break.
I knew there were such people around but it was getting very depressing for all involved they had not popped up!
This is very good news.
The best news for all becuase it affects us all.
They were in danger of being evicted from their house (with no heat and winter coming) but all is OK today. The landlord came right over and started working when he heard the good news
She will be a very good assistant and a fast learning.
She just needed somebody with patience, a good judge of character and a desire for a clean slate to train for long term work.
Happy Day!
*says Thanks!*

That's awesome, Abbi! I know how hard it is when you're looking to gain experience, and everyone wants to hire someone WITH experience. You are right about it being an advantage her having no bad habits to break- sometimes experience comes with a lot of bad habits (and attitude as well!). I'm glad Twinny's daughter found an employer who's willing to start fresh and train a promising individual. And that they will not be faced with impending eviction and no heat with winter approaching- that is a very scary prospect!

I am so happy for you all abbi.It amkes me wonder why more aren't given the chance to learn, when there are so many young people willing to.Many young ones are given the tag of lazy, and can't be bothered, when they only need someone to let them prove themselves.<.in her new job,i'm sure she'll love it!!xxx

That's great, abbi... It's good to know there are employers like that, the experience-no experience trap is a horrible one...

Hi, Abbi,
That really is good news. It sounds as if she really will get training too. My son has experience of "training" - patchy, non-existent, badly organised etc. etc. and very stressful.
The reason most employers want "experienced" people is because they can't do the job themselves, and have no-one in place to do the training.
When will companies realise that just because a person can do the job, it doesn't mean they are capable of training someone else , To get the best work and maximum payback for salaries paid, good training is essential.
As you said starting fresh with no bad habits to eliminate is good but good training would overcome that anyway.. Poor training passes on bad habits, is hard for the person trying to do the training, as they are probably still trying to do their own job too, and is disheartening for the trainee.
to Twinneys daughter. Sounds like she has someone nice to work for, and doesn't it make a difference

Yay for Twinny and daughter Abbi!!
I worry a lot about young people ... not just here in South Africa but all over the world. A very competitive world with not enough 'gaps' for people to squeeze into ...

It takes a controlling but thrifty personality with a schedued that is not packed for greed.
Training takes time and costs money. He is a perfectionists that is willing to give her the time. Not having to pay her for the experience saves him a lot of money over the next five to ten years!
He likes quality not quanity and is a good teacher.
Neither of them like big changes and he is very into spending time with his wife and young children
It is the magic combination a beginner needs.
Yay!
