I have just officially resigned as an ACE. My badge shall be ripped from my lovely goo page tomorrow!
It was for my own personal reasons and basically just needed a break from it. I am very proud to have been an <./>ace</.> and before any assumptions are made this was for entirely personal reasons - not a reflection on the aces or their position on h2g2.
However, I am still available for help and advice to anyone that needs it, providing they come offering or a

Goo?
Well, what a great service you have performed for h2g2! I'm a bit worried about the newbie list, but I'm sure the rest of the resourceful and charming ACEs will worry about that.
And of course, RL is far more important than any of this! Have fun.

Thanks Nadia
Jodan - I know! We shall see... You know some of my reasons for it, but as you say there is also RL which I need to get a grip on. I want to do some writing too, so I shall keep myself busy!
I have neglected my friends in Glasgow far too long so I am going to plan a weekend of drinking and socialising soon. Once I have recovered the Scottish meet up

It's sounding like a good decision Mort . I imagine we'll still get your talents on h2 just in other ways. I'll probably drop by with too .

You don't need a pretty golden badge to prove that you are an ACE person in "TR" or hootoo land. Anyone who has met you knows that you are a real goodie!

for all the newbies that will miss out, both on your knowledge and your humour.
I am not exagerating (for once) when I say you are a for newbies, guiding them through the rocks of Goo, GML, and articles, to name but a few.
The Grim Reaper will be rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect of all those juicy newbies heading his way.
A toast to an exemplary ACE, may RL bring you your rewards for your efforts here!
For a good friend.
And
For all the problems that I've yet to bring you!

Aww made me all emotional!
Such lovely lovely comments
I have tried to be a good ace, lost my temper only a couple of times but it was good fun - most of the time

Gone, but not forgotten!
last post plays in the distance. A lone piper walks the wall of HooToo land. And pets everywhere fear for their owners ignorance.

Wow. And I've only just got here. It was very nice finding your welcome message in my box when I first arrived, so thanks for that and good luck for the future.

But don't forget, you can always re-apply to be an ACE again when things are a bit easier. I should think the fact that you were honest enough to admit you felt unable to do your best at this difficult time would be counted well in your favour, plus as everyone says, you did a damn fine job! So maybe count it as taking a well earned break, not a resignation for eternity.

Well i am glad that having a welcome message from me was a nice thing to get!
I have asked them to keep my badge polished for me! I can have it back when I want, providing I behave myself in the meantime of course!!
I will just see how things go. For me, it is important to be completely un badged rather than take a leave of absence which Natalie offered me, as I can't help myself and would keep doing ACE things even if i tried not to.
Gives me more time to do guide entries etc.
But it does mean alot to have been appreciated.
