Scaletric is game for kids (and big kids). It is based on Formula 1 racing cars. They have electric motors that pick current up off the track, via a slot in the track which also steers the cars round the course.
YOu have a hand controller which is basically a rheostat, with which you control the speed (via the electricity) of your car. The track has 2 slots side by side and comes in sections. You clip the sections together to make up the track, the design of which you can alter.
The main aim is to accelerate the car on the straights so it is going as fast as possible on the corners and see who can get their car the farthest across the living room Alternatively, if you have the inside track (you can get banked curves so you can go faster) you can hit the acceleration part way round the corner causing the back end of the car to kick out and, if you time it right, it hits your oponents car sending it flying off the track, thus you win
There is rumoured to be an internet enabled version with which you can have games across the internet. Not sure if it is out yet.

Described like a true Scaletrix professional, Ictoan
I would have just said - remote control cars on a track that go flying off when you take the corners too fast

Cars? CARS?! Sidecars (no E), They are far harder to control!

Shame isn't it? Folks not into bikes enjoy the sidecars and then get a taste for bikes.
Did you ever see the Prom races at New Brighton?
