Will the writing size be changed to a more normally adult size?

On the upper right of your number keypad is a minus sign.
Control minus will reduce the size of font displayed.

I'm referring to when you want to make a reply.
I have a mac..I played around and its command minus. But still it just makes the actual reply box smaller as well.
How are you supposed to construct a reply other than a few lines without scrolling. It's childish.

All the barlesque fonts are out of proportion to each other. Increasing font size by key command doesn't solve the problem because the other text just becomes a problem. As Effers said, it's a problem with the text box, there are other problems as well. I have no idea how they got this so wrong

So many variables given choice of computer, operating system, settings, browser. etc.
A Packard Bell Computer with Windows XP ,1024x768 resolution, Google Chrome seems to be ok.
Thinking of getting an iPad2 - assume it can be set up as required.

And yet most other websites can manage to get the fonts right.

I use the old site with Brunel. Never had need to change fonts used for conversations. How would I do It ?

My impression is that it is 'Barlesque' that is being sold. I have no idea if Brunel will be sold with it. It depends who it gets sold to I suppose. They maybe not be the least interested in Brunel in any case, and just want Barlesque. The new buyer will have a certain vision for the future of h2g2, and the kind of target audience it is aimed at, to which Barlesque is superbly suited.
But as we are all in the dark, we have no idea of what *actually* is being sold.

getting back to the size of the text. Using the front page as an example.
I have a Hewlett Packard computer operating under vista.
If I load Internet Explorer and use control minus the text boxes scale down with the text.
If I close Internet explorer and load firefox 4.01 the text reduces while the boxes stay the same size.

Oh right..so we'll all need a degree in computer geekery for the brave new world of Barlesque?
As I said my computer is a Mac. Apart from Peter P sports stuff I use Safari.
It's bloody stupid that they haven't sorted such a fundamental for Barlesque, without endless faffing around. It's going to put new people off.

You seem to be assuming there will be new people.
I suppose that depends on how well the new owner markets nuhootoo.

I'm on a mac and using key commands to increase/decrease doesn't really work because the fonts are disproportionate to each other so decreasing/increasing still makes some too small and others too big. Having to change fonts like that everytime I open a differently formatted page on h2g2 is a sign of serious design faults, which is not a problem that can easily be solved at the user end.
>>the kind of target audience it is aimed at, to which Barlesque is superbly suited.
I can't imagine what kind of target audience would use such a disfunctional site

>assuming there will be new people.<
Good point. The beeb are basically selling a pup in Barlesque..unless something incredible happens.
But even a pup might attract a few people...what sort of people though is moot.
Heck I must stop being so negative...

Maybe it's aimed at the disabled?

Just to answer the question about the text sizes in the Reply to a Post page. We're aware of the inconsistency of text size between browsers and operating systems and it is on our list of things to fix. Cheers
