Question about PS conversations
azahar Started conversation Aug 4, 2005
I'm just wondering why, when we check back on 'more conversations' on our PS that our only option is to click and click and click on 'older postings' rather than have page 'dots' to click on, especially when we know the older posting we are looking for perhaps took place months ago.
For researchers subscribed to very fast moving forums such as Ask h2g2, they must have to search back page by page for ages in order to find stuff.
Likewise for a researcher of many years standing wanting to find an old conversation.
So my question is - is it possible for our PS conversation page to also include page dots to click on, as we have now on our journal entries?

Now that strikes me as being a very sensible suggestion. What do other readers think?

Bloody good idea
You can sort of do that (the dot thing) by jiggling with the url, but it's completely hit and miss.

I agree, it's an excellent idea.
Check out this week's talking point - A4692620 - for info about the t-shirt.

Does that mean I don't get a t-shirt?
Well, anyhoodle, I actually thought this one up all by myself, and it seems people here are interested in having this possibility implemented.
And so . . . how about it?

Another question - the 'x new posts' link on my conversation list doesn't seem to be working. It used to bring me to the last post I read, now it's gone back to bringing me to the last page.
Is it just me or is everyone finding this changed today?

Traveller in Time thinking about resourses
"It is still a good idea (even while it is not original )
But it would use processor time, and I think 'Jim Lynn' does not want to waste it in this way.
Perhaps we can get the Forum name with the Thread, like the message boards already have. "

ah but there will be all that processor time that is used correlating all the down time hicups, plus that freed up from
not doing things like this when bored
"" I was running SQL profiler, capturing data from the database. ""
Mind you would that not free up space anyway by giveing smaller cross linked lists i:e all a reasearchers replys would be on one list rather on twenty or so different ones, ignore this part of the post until after pub closing time then it will make perfect sense.
