*shrug* I think that's a false distinction.Pissing off your user/customers is never a good idea, whether your funded by ads, like a web site, or a TV station, or whether you're directly paid by the customers. That said, h2g2 have probably done the right thing - short term inconvenience for long term coolness. It's only a minor grumble...

Phord, if whatever you're using to view the site has a serial port, it's fairly common to see second-hand external 28.8 modems for around the £5-£10 mark. Keep an eye on local computer fairs, but avoid auctions...
