I have no idea about traffic on hootoo, but I don't think your snapshot idea is correct, because the list has changed over the last few days - and there are still all the conversations on it which have been dormant for nearly a week. If a new 'snapshot' had been taken, all those conversations should have been exchanged with active ones.

It was just my opinion, based on the rare times that I have to look at this site. I expect the BBC staff will give things proper consideration, in their own available time.

I wish I could share that optimism.

From a number of directions, you have 'the ear' of the Italics. If you think it's a really serious bother, I'm sure that an in-depth and detailed e-mail of your concerns to the Feedback address would see a response.

So far, I've never sent an email to Feedback, so I couldn't tell.
However, I think this is of concern to everybody, which is why I posted it on the Feedback area on h2g2.

It would be the same address you dealt with when you were advised of any post. It's the one that restored my PS when the bug hit so many of us, and mine being the 3rd such report, they saw fit to announce the concern. It seems to get their attention perhaps a bit faster than one of many threads they try to monitor. It's just an option.
Oh, and yes, that "PY Bug" still exists, as my missing PS today will attest.

Can any of you remember when the Top 5 Convo's reappeared without announcement about a year or so ago?
That was done in error because of something being done by the Beeb.
I wonder?
This Top 20 seems to have turned up (again without announcement) and seems to coincide with the current 'bug' in the updating of certain Intro Pages.

Replying to an email sent to me by feedback is different to sending private concerns there, no? But yes, now you mention it, I did indeed once send an email there (about a photo), and I got a reply relatively quickly from what I recall.
I still think it's much easier for the eds to monitor a thread here, than to reply to numerous emails from various researchers. Don't forget that we only have one fulltime ed, plus one who helps out.
The workload must be immense, even without me sending them emails.

I don't recall having seen that one, but there do seem to be a number of formatting bugs lately. In Firefox or Netscape, a common bother now is the large gapping between conversations on your own PS. As well as pre-modded PS's. Maybe it's a variant of "job security" for the network folks at the BBCi.

Oh, and as relates to e-mails, ... If it's a proper report of a technical concern about the site, I see that as part of the Ed(s) job. And one that is far more automated to their desktop than the many threads they try to watch. While doing what-ever assorted duties they do. I'd not drop a note just to say "Hi", but I do use that line if I see a site concern.

As Bel says, bombarding the Eds with emails isn't going to help matters.
Those addresses should only be used sparingly, or TPTB will never get anything done.

I just checked: the eds are subscribed to this thread, so maybe we will get some reply after the bank holiday weekend - if this thread hasn't dropped off their conversation list by then.

I think post #30 belies the idea of 'bombarding' with e-mails. But hey, do what-ever feels good to yourselves. I've expressed my opinion and am done with this thread. Cheers, ladies.

I wonder why you feel attacked when there is no attck at all?
We only pointed out that if everybody sent an email, the eds would be snowed in. Nobody suggested it wasn't your right to email them if you felt it was the proepr way to raise a concern.

*sigh* I said that I have spoken my opinion, and had nothing more to offer. Leaving after having said that does NOT imply or indicate an impression of being "attacked". It merely says that I have nothing more to offer.
