Ive had a huide entery hidden and i havent receive an email as to why.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/A2762697
Ive based it upon the old republic (before films) of star wars, because HPB was already doing the new republic (after films) and thought it would be a good idea.
Like the magicians guild rpg, i liberally used the guide ml code for the table and border as it was free to all and suited what i need. I also used the blob from HPB's game as again it was freely available.
The game itself has no reason to be hidden. It doesnt directly copy anything that hasnt already been.
So it baffles me as to why on earth its gone, as i cant see where exactly its broken the house rules. The only one that might be possibly considered is 'dont impersonate other researchers' which is a bit of a long shot.
Feeling more then annoyed as someones yikesing my stuff left right and centre.

Hi Asmodai dark
I'm sorry you're upset. I don't know why your page has been referred - I didn't see it before it was hidden - but I do know that you won't get an email until a final decision on it has been made. The moderators (who are separate from the h2g2 staff) have not failed your page - they've referred it to the staff for a decision. The staff only work normal UK office hours so a decision won't be made before Monday at the earliest.
Could it be that you breached George Lucas' copyright in some way or did you say something that might be taken as defamatory perhaps?

Hi Asmodai dark...
I don't think you will get an answer from the Italics until tomorrow I'm afraid... But, having clicked on the link you provided I noticed that the entry was only >temporarily hidden< which could be why you haven't received an email yet... If they decide that there is indeed something that breaks the House Rules in it, then they will email you...
So the reason why the entry is hidden right now is because it has been yikesed, that's all... Hopefully they will reach a decision soon...
>Feeling more then annoyed as someones yikesing my stuff left right and centre.<
Hmmm... The person who has yikesed your entry might not be the same one who has yikesed your intro in the first place... And it seems to be for a completely different reason as well... So lets not jump to conclusion there...
But, rest assured that if a lot of your written stuff on here get yikesed for no apparent reasons by the same person, the Italics will look into that anyway...
I'm sure some Gurus will pop in eventually and add more infos/details if necessairy...
An advice if I may though... _If_ someone was actually yikesing a lot of your written stuff to wind you up or whatever other reason, the best way to make them stop would be to _not_ let them know that it's ennoying you.. The more you react, the more they're bound to carry on...
Anyway, hopefully everything will be back to normal soon...

Apologies for all these postings... Lack of sleep plus my kids wanting to celebrate Father's day as early as possible [even so I have been working all night , bless them...] don't make my attempts to communicate on here easy right now...
Asmodai dark... Even so I said that we should not jump to conclusions, that doesn't mean that I think you're silly to think that... I would certainly think the same if I had some of my written stuff being yikesed in such a short period... But, the intro's yikesing looked more like a protective action than anything else, that's why... I hope that makes sense... I'm trying to make sure that this part of my posting is not misinterpreted as a put down of some sort...
Talk soon...

Even though there won't be any response from the Italics until Monday, there should at least have been an email from the Mods when the entry was hidden

Are you absolutely sure of that Amy? I've had posts yikesed in the past and I could have sworn I got an automatically generated mail from the Mods If that's not how it works then there's certainly a case for it to be made so - if you get a post or an entry yikesed at 7pm on a Friday and hear nothing until 10am on a Monday, that ain't good.

Well the person doing the yikesing gets an email; two in fact - one acknowledging the yikes and another giving the result. Surely the Researcher whose post was yikesed should get one too

From a usability point of view it's essential that the person doing the complaining gets a confirmation that the system has worked and that the matter is 'in the system.' Otherwise we'd have people desperately searching for other ways to contact the BBC to make sure their concerns had been heard. It's part of the process of calming the situation down - angry person feels they're in control and becomes happier and is prepared to wait.
I'm not sure there's much advantage in alerting people to yikesings that may well result in the material staying on the site but which the moderator just wants to have checked. There is a high probability that it could trigger an angry email response to the staff and create a lot of work - after all, it wouldn't be possible for the moderator to give a reason and we'd end up with lots of threads like this one. Angry emails sent over the weekend still wouldn't be answered until the Monday morning resulting in an upset person getting more and more upset, possibly for no reason in the end.
What I'm arguing is that a 'you've been referred but we can't tell you why' email wouldn't stop threads like this one happening, it would encourage more of them.

woh lot of replies. Thanks everyone. Il reply to the one thing that comes to mind.
The copyright is something i though might be an issue, but theres a current game on h2g2 for the game after the films, so that too would be breaching copyright (which would be sad, because the games rather big). Likewise theres a lot of things that could be said to breach copyright (like my tolkien society).
Im not to fussed about waiting till monday. Its just hard to make any progress on the project.
I do have another U page that i was using for an rpg project (im waiting for confirmation so that i can create an U page for the old republic - the games name) so could i work on that one for now or would that be posting for another researcher?

If an entry is yikesed and then failed immediately by the Moderators, an automated message is sent to the Yikeser and to the originator of the content. However, if the content is referred, emails won't be sent until a decision is made by the Eds.

Whenever I yikes a post or an entry I get an email from the Mods not long after, acknowledging my 'complaint'. I then get a follow-up saying that my 'complaint' has been upheld or over-ruled, either from the Mods if the content is immediately hidden, or at a later time when the adjudication is made by the Eds.
Why would it be such a problem for the person whose content has been hidden to get a similar mail from the Mods at the time of pulling the post/entry? If worded correctly it shouldn't be a problem should it I'd say that it's a courtesy to let someone know what's going on and what they can expect

Hi Gosho,
They get an email from the mods if the Entry is failed. They don't get one if it was just referred. The reason for this is that it would be possible for someone to yikes Entries or postings with some elaborate reason, and the person would get loads of emails telling their content had been referred when they hadn't actually broken the rules and was going to reappear anyway.
It's unneccessarily upsetting - particularly if they had been away from the site for ages and the email was the only thing that drew them back in. Trolls would be able to yikes all sorts of random stuff, just to provoke the emails to annoy people.
Key: Complain about this post
