Takeing over a 'Dumped' entry
Philious Started conversation Dec 7, 2005
A researcher has desided to leave h2g2 and so has removed all her entrties from peer review. I have been following the one entries progress. It would make a usefull companion article to one of my own. The reviews think it is finished and was just waiting for a Scout. Can I take over this article and resubmitit for peer-review and hopefully selection?

It's not very polite to start doing the vulture thing this early, almost disrespectful in fact.
It's common courtesy to give elvised researchers at least a three month cooling off period before their entries become fair game.

Fair enoughski, but in mid-march how do I do take over the editing of this fine article? Plus all it realy needs is spotting by a Scout, It was a finished article.

<./>writing-fleamarket</.> explains the protocol for taking over abandoned entries.
But since the entry was removed from PR (and so will not end up in the fleamarket) then it has to be assumed that the author no longer wishes it to be considered for the EG.
I am not sure in this case, whether it is ok to copy and submit it yourself even if the original author is credited.
(I think the current option to submit someone elses entry for review was also being reviewed)
As Croz says, feelings may change so it really is a bit early to think about it.

"You also could post a message to the 'about to elvish' Researcher. Just as there is aways a chance of someone reading the old Peer Review conversations and going to the Researchers Persoinal Space to find out what happened. "

I think there is more than one reason why the author may have pulled the entries (assuming we are talking about GB here) so in my honest opinion I think we should just let the dust settle and see how things go.
Key: Complain about this post
