>>Just because you haven't got them doesn't mean they don't exist
They may exist, but it's not very likely, is it, considering that there is no evidence whatsoever. There's plenty of evidence that the world works the way that scientists think it does, rather than by magic.
The Earth may really be flat rather than a sphere, and thunderbolts may really be thrown down by Zeus from this throne on Mount Olympus. There's no evidence for it, but it may be true.

Ahem, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the author of the article state above in post 19 that she is more than happy for the text to be changed?
And she and Titania have agreed on a possible wording, so I'd suggest a nice neutral update, and the problem is solved.

Beliefs are dispelled, and replaced by facts backed up by evidence.

You're right, Zube. I'm just grumbling, because I've been slapped in the face and it still hurts.
I'll go away and have some coffee.

Well said, Zubenchall!
Now would anybody like to suggest what that nice neutral wording is?

Thanks, Eds.
Any chance that this entry could be moved to Editorial Feedback? At the moment, it appears as a blot on Serephina's fine Entry.

Don't you go setting of your heart again VV
The only thing I was upset about was the fact that something others could find offensive , as Gnomon obviously did, wasn't pointed out to me in time for me to fix it. Peer review hasn't done is job properly again.
Thanks for changing it for me

This debate could go round and round for eons, but I just want to add this little bit:
Gnomon has stated that religion is an insult to his beliefs. Well his adamant defiance of atheism is an insult to MY beliefs! Why? Because I believe that we are all entitled to believe what we choose, even if it conflicts with what another may believe.
Gnomon is an atheist. He does not believe that gods or magic exist. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is his insulting tone when trying to tell other people that they are wrong for believing as they choose.
Gnomon, I have two little words of advice for you:
LIGHTEN UP!!
blessings,
Miles

Thanks for those words of wisdom, Miles. If you had read what I wrote you would see that I never said you were not entitled to your beliefs. I have repeatedly said that other people can believe whatever they like and I have no problem with that.
