The relationship between the late princess and the public during the week after she died is of great interest to me, it was a turbulant but fascinating time....

Hello Skokiaan smiley - smiley

May I point you in the direction of the <./>writing-guidelines</.>?

Perhaps then you can make certain adjustments to your entry, but I don't believe there is enough content here for an edited entry.

I wrote an entry {now edited} about Princess Diana, I was, and still am, a fan.
A596027
I cannot tell you what happened to me when she died because I don't know, I was just overwhelmed by grief, I cried, not just for her, but for all the good people in the world who died too soon, I wept for children robbed of their mothers and for mothers robbed of their daughters.

I do not deny that I was incredibly moved by all the flowers and the scenes at her funeral.

I have not "distanced myself" but I suspect the ones who have, {probably} it's just the old "stiff-upper-lip" back in place.

Keep writing!

Thanks for reading my entry, and for the advice. I read your entry, and it is very detailed, well layed out and written.

Although I may add to my entry, as I remember my previous thoughts, I am not what you might call a writer's writer. I am instinctive, and tend not to worry too much about technical points....much like my photography, I tend to do something once and move on to other things....so if not suitable to be an edited entry, then so be it.

I think there also needs to be an apostrophe in the title somewhere:
"The Princess of Wales' Death" no, that looks like the land of the Welsh has died. "The Princess' of Wales Death" "The Princess' Death of Wales" Wait, here it is: "The Death of the Princess of Wales"!

Thank you for your comment, as you can see, I have met you half way with the title.

I have also removed all the ''I''s from the entry, although it does now seem a little less personal to me. Which is a little sad, as the article is really about the feelings of the people I spoke to about Diana, and my own thoughts on her. I am lucky to be fairly neutral on her...avoiding the rush to turn her into a modern day saint. I went to kensington Palace on fith aniversary to take photos (used to sell a few of bands) and to try to understand the ''Di factor'', must admit I was as baffled as ever....but did feel sorry for her in a way as she seems to have been turned into some sort of idol, more a photographic image than woman.

Well, you have someone here to understands your viewpoint totally: I felt like a mute bystander in an auction of the emotions, with people who had never known this woman bidding with flowers and and other tokens of their grief for the coveted position of 'most traumatised'. Do I fell connected to her in some way? Not a bit. I'm a Welshman, but she could have been Princess of Pluto in light of everything she did for my country. I'm glad someone has stood up and said what many of us must have been thinking on that day, even if it isn't Edited Guide material.

Thanks for your support,i wrote it a couple of days ago on my first H2G2 day. Its something I have thought a lot about...I suppose its about the human condition really.

Well, I've never made any secret of my republican sympathies. Whatever sadness I might have felt for the tragic way in which she ended her life was always tempered by the observation that any other single mum with 1 O-level and no real job prospects would have been given a flat on a sink estate like Cardiff's Splott. She was an arch media manipulator: unlike Princess Anne, she didn't seem to get involved in any worthy causes until her public stock was in decline. So, given all that, I felt baffled at the collective outpouring of grief.

Hello...

I don't think this entry is going to make it into the Edited Guide. However, it might be appropriate for The Post.

If it were going to make it into the Edited Guide, it would need to actually mention her name because the title "Princess of Wales" is just that, a title, and a future princess may end up with the same title.

Would you remove it from Peer Review? If you visit the list of entries in Peer Review, you'll find yours and next to it is a "remove" or "X" button. If you click that, it will remove the entry from Peer Review, leaving it intact for people to read.

Thanks!

Ausnahmsweise, wie üblich (Consistently inconsistent)

The dative will be the death of the genitive.
No - the genitive will be the dative's death!

Mikey the Humming Mouse - A3938628 Learn More About the Edited Guide!

Well, there does seem to be a consensus here that while this is an interesting piece, it's not really within the guidelines for the Edited Guide. And while SKOKIAAN is still occasionally around at h2g2 and subscribed to this thread, s/he hasn't gotten around to removing this entry from Peer Review. Should we consider moving this thread back to the entry via the usual circuits?

smiley - grovelDon't delete the entry, it's still in the Guide; it will still be found by people using the "search" facility for Princess Diana stories. smiley - smiley
