Diana Princess Of Wales's Death

Yes she was the Fairy Tale Princess that we all dreamed of, all blond hair, designer clothes and romantic photographs hand in hand with her beloved prince, well until the Bulimia set in.
But did she really warant a million bunches of flowers and wailing in the street from those who never even met her ?
In the documentary, The Shrine, a teenage girl camped outside Kensington Palace for several nights, saying she couldn't leave and how wonderful the princess was, surely something she would not have done even for a close relative? Many went to the Queen Mother's laying in state, and yes the coffin in that regal place, Westminster Hall, was magnificent, but would we have camped out for days to see it? So it didn't really help explain the ''Di'' factor, but perhaps the death of an older lady isn't comparable, and certainly doesn't have the romantic mystery of a Paris car crash, with two lovers.
Clearly, if she was not a princess, then the hysteria would not be there, raising the point of was it her that was liked or her position in the Royal Family. Yes she did good works, but then thousands do, without the publicity.
The strange thing is that some who laid the flowers and cried for her are now distancing themselves from the hysteria, perhaps having re-evaluated her value in society.
Perhaps her support started dieing as those million bunches started to rot and return to the soil. Visitors to Kensington Palace on the fith aniversary of her death, found the million had dwindled to a few hundred bunches, and only the diehard supporters remained, some of who were just as angry as ever, one shouting ''It was that bitch's fault she died'' Exactly who the ''bitch'' was wasn't clear, but it shows how strongly some people still feel, although perhaps the princess would rather people weren't so angry in her name. Another visitor said she lays a bunch of roses every year as the princess was such a nice person, perhaps this is the face of the greater majority of Diana's fans these days, calm and respectful, laying roses for England's best known rose.
The hysteria of the ''Di Week'' is still as baffling to many as ever. The near collapse of the Royal Family which was predicted never took place, but the Princess's support certainly seems to have waned. Many feel she has been turned into an idol, more phographic image than a woman of flesh and blood, ironically the result of us all buying the newpapers that we so hated for chasing her for the latest ''image''.
