A Conversation for Cover Versions That Are Better Than The Original Song

Geri Halliwell better than the Weather girls.
You have to be kidding me!
Also, I would have to take issue with The Communards, Faith No More, the Flying Pickets, Undercover and possibly the Communards in there.
(a I am a Faith no More fan but their version of Easy is *not* better than that of Lionel Richie)
I find your case unproven.
And *that* is final

The Communards is a fair point. I only put that in in deference to the askh2g2 thread.
I reserve my reasons for keeping Faith No More in. Geri Halliwell, I think I've rebutted fairly well in the above thread.
How can you complain about the Flying Pickets version of 'Only You'. Brilliant, it was. Despite the fact that it was sung by the four ugliest men in show-business.
I knew I was going to create controversy with Undercover. However, I think that Gerry Rafferty's original is distinctly, erm... what's the word? Ah, yes...w@nky.

The flying pickets was bought by the parents, yazoo's was bought by us. Th Flying pickets were loved by my mother for Chrissake . I rest my case
Anything by Geri Halliwell should be shoved straight into room101 - the Weather girls are still played as a disco tune down to this day. I seriously doubt Geri's version will last that long.
I have to say that I didn't even know some of those were covers. At least you didn't have Gareth Gates up for a superior version of unchained melody

Well, speaking as one who DJs a lot of cheesy discos, I am fully converted to Geri's version. The Weather Girls' one now just seems slow, incomprehensible and not half as much fun.

Well, it's taken me two months to think of a rebuttal to that point - but she is much nicer to look at than the Weather Girls.

Key: Complain about this post
