For the Scouts - PR Entries worth recommending

Post 1

U168592

This thread is for Researchers to add the A-Number and/or PR thread of their own Entries which they feel are ready for inclusion in the Edited Guide. That means they've had a good long stint in PR and have had all suggestions/recommendations attended to.

That way the Scouts can find your happily Peer Reviewed Entry without hunting the old backlog.

Annie - "This thread is for Researchers to add the A-Number and/or PR thread of their own Entries which they feel are ready for inclusion in the Edited Guide". I should have emphasised the 'own ' part, as I think it's preferable authors suggest their own Entries. While it's very nice of you to bring them to the attention of the Scouts, only the author's really know if they have done all they want to do smiley - winkeye

Nice job, MJ! smiley - ok

Here's my entry. It seems done. Nobody has corrected anything grammatical, which I think might be a mistake, but otherwise it's got everyone who's looked at it satisfied.

Gnomon - time to move on

I think I'm coming round to BigAl's point of view. Authors should not be recommending their own entries here.

Oh I wonder when we'll all agree..smiley - erm

While I can see both sides, I was reticent to post my own entries yet felt quite comfortable posting/promoting others whom I thought were ready (having seen authors comments, MJsmiley - winkeye)

I came here to post this:
A6130306 - Richard and Judy - TV Presenters
as Gnomon just okayed itsmiley - smooch

and now feel a bit daft.

I'm off to sleep on it, goodnight all.
smiley - sleepy

It might be worth having a discussion before we all go doing something new.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm using this convo correctly, but I have two entries in PR right now:

If some folks who are in this thread could take a look at A8541209 Advanced Placement Courses (USA), I'd be much obliged. I don't know what else I could add to it to make it better, but the reviewers don't seem to be satisfied.

Also, my Julio-Claudians uni project (A5836502) couldn't hurt for commenting!smiley - biggrin

Right, I've reworded the matter of suggesting Entries smiley - smiley This is an evloving process and it doesn't hurt to try something new to see if it works. The first instance of the idea seems not to be appropriate, so I've latered the framework smiley - winkeye

So, from now on....here's a thread to suggest Entries from Peer Review that look ready for Scout picks smiley - ok

Hi Gnomon, I know you have outlined your reasons elsewhere (at least, I think you have... smiley - senior) but would you care to elucidate (again)?

The problem is, as I have posted elsewhere, that for me a languishing entry, which is ready to go might not be picked for yonks, whereas PR is doing the work of the WW on others less "deserving" (for want of a better word - I don't do mornings very well)

where's the when we need it?

My big worry would be that this would end up as a clique, where people in the know come to mention their entries, so that some scouts don't really check PR enough. It could end up adding one *more* step to the process rather than streamlining it.

Indeed, I've come to that conclusion myself, so am going to remove the idea from the Official page smiley - smiley
