Number Six

"To Patrick Moore and David Bowie
And all the other stars
There's evidence here to show ye
That there is life on Mars"

That's from 'Mars Bars' by the Undertones... probably not of too much serious help, but there you go.smiley - winkeye

Oberon2001 (Scout)

I think a more important question to be asked... is there life on Blair? For many years scientists have believed that there was no life on Blair and all his primary function were carried out by one A.Campbell and one P.Mandelson. In recent months however, evidence has been found of this so-called "Tone" planet thinking for itself, even disagreeing with it's former masters...
On a more serious note, there was a time in the 1980's when Nasa seriously believed that tiny organisms existed on Mars. I don't know why, but that theory was dismissed after a few years.
Nice article smiley - ok

Getting back to the topic...

This is an interesting and well written article on a interesting subject, and then points I've got to make are of a minor nature, merely intended to make it fit the house style that edited guide entries have not at all a critism of your writing style. So please do make the changes, and I'm sure this will head towards the edited guide..

smiley - marsThere's no need to link to "home" as there's already a link to your personal space in the entry data box...

smiley - mars Technically when the entry is picked an copy of it will be made and the copy will be edited, if this entry is picked the sub editor will remove the picture from the copy. You can leave it in the orinigal if you want - it's up to you..

smiley - mars The HR tags aren't part of the house style..

smiley - mars On a very minor stylistic point, I think the "correct" way would be to use for the "case for" and "case against" headers, and Subheaders for the ones below that...

smiley - sorry to be so picky smiley - blush

Oooh and you can find the guidelines here - A266131 and here - A264520

Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man! Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

(smiley - sorry, had to follow up Number Six there with the original "Life on Mars" song by David Bowie. smiley - biggrin)

Excellent and well researched entry there. However, I'd like to make my stylistic opinion known.

smiley - mars You make the same links to A330823 and http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2354533.stm many times in the entry. There's seriously no need to link more than once to each.

smiley - mars For external links (ie. not DNA ones) it's a good idea to add the TITLE= attribute to the tag. This specifies the title of the page you're linking to in the right column of the entry (if the page has the same name as the text of the link, then this isn't necessary).

smiley - mars There's a stray space in "potato-shaped rock known as ALH84001 , has been".

smiley - mars tags don't need enclosing in (it just makes lots of extra spaces that aren't necessary). Also an entire list should be surrounded by as some browsers will complain otherwise. Your second list with inside the looks very odd indeed. Just lose all the tags here - is sufficient.

smiley - mars The subheader tag is not , and doesn't need because it's bold automatically.

smiley - mars Typo "furthur" should read "further".

smiley - mars I agree with all Z says too.

As I said before, thorough and well researched. Well done. smiley - ok

Shall we wait for the Italics to get back on Monday? I think we should at least allow the author the dignity of either having the entry reinstated, or removing the content as was done with the other entry smiley - smiley
