A Conversation for The H2G2 ULC Ministry

Sermon for 24th March 2003

I apologize for my tardiness in preaching, the world has been heading rapidly into a conflict and I am having to decide where to take a stand and for whom.

However, as we are not allowed to comment on this site on any conflict that may or may not be happening, I will try and impart my wisdom (or what ever it is) as so not to inflame anybody.

I was in discussion with other ULC ministers about the definition of evil, and the definition of good and why we seem content to classify something or someone into just one or the other. In the age of Buffy and superheroes we think those who protect our way of life are good, and those whom seek to destroy it evil, we see no gray area. Imagine a world that was just black and white, it is not a pleasant scene. We do what we do not because we are aligning ourselves with good or evil, but because we think that we can gain something out of our actions. Maybe our actions will benefit the world, maybe they will only benefit our pockets just maybe they bring a happy feeling over everybody.

For who is it to judge without taking the other mans shoes, to see life from their point of view and to ask, is it our way of life that they are trying to change, it is it them who are protecting their way of life from us? Whoever or what ever you believe put you on this world, put 5 billion equals on here too. Remember that each of their lives has as much importance to the universe as your own and never take them for granted.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
