OK, while you guys can be agreeing on what exactly happens to electricity prices at night I'll be trying to think how to avoid the issue as far as possible smiley - winkeye. In the meantime, I'm off to get lost in the wilderness for the weekend. Have a good one!

smiley - ok Have a good weekend...

(By the way, it's usually a good thing when the peer review thread ends up degenerating into an arguement which really doesn't have anything to do with the entry itself... it tends to mean the entry was good enough to get us thinking but we can't really find ways of improving it directly smiley - winkeye)

Personally I think there's a good article in the threead - I've just learned quite a bit about electricity generation.

smiley - erm of course I didn't know a lot to start with, but I would say the thread was interesting and educational - just what the Guide should be ?

as whisky says, peer review oftend goes around the houses before the entrry actually gets picked, and it is usually good for the article.

often during this journey, someone finds that they misunderstood something withing the article, and points it out for clarification, and it is usually something that the relative experts all agreed upon, so they didn't realise that it needed further explanation.

this is why it is good to have experts and people who nkow little in the same thread, to act as checks and balances against an article becoming overly smiley - geekey.

however I would be happy for the entry to go into the edited guide as it is right now. any further improvements would be a bonus, but I can't see any obvious places for such improvements to be made.

keep up the good work.

Interesting reading, both the entry and this thread smiley - smiley

For those of us unfamiliar with earth-moving on a grand scale, perhaps *12,000,000 tonnes of earth* could be supplemented/footnoted with either a volume (XYZm³) or a comparison with something like a number of smiley - bus's or a well known cathedral, sports stadium etc

Hmm, now that's a good idea. Cue rough-and-ready, back-of-the-envelopes calculations... from the FHC website statistics I reckon twelve million tonnes of earth is about four million cubic metres, is about twice the enclosed volume of the Millenium Dome, which itself is equivalent to more than eighteen thousand double-decker smiley - bus

So, "12,000,000 tonnes of earth" is equivalant to more than thirty-six thousand double-decker bus-sized lumps of the stuff smiley - cool

Owzat?

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Well that was all quite amusing. While we're all still here, would any of you knowledgeable peeps be interested in helping out on my electricity generation project? It's been ignored by me for a couple of months, but I've a good mind to get started on it again.

smiley - cheers

Hi Jaziniho & Dolt I've been given your entry to sub-edit and I've already sorted a few wee grammar and spelling mistakes but haven't done much else as yet, I'm going to read through the backlog here and then have a go at editing it.

It's a good entry and I'll try and do it justice.

Hi Emily! Thanks for popping by. Although I didn't really have to do a great deal to the original article, this peer review malarky was great fun. There's probably another article or two in this thread on it's own... hmmm...

Ooh! Just noticed the funky links you've added... smiley - ok

SO I've got your go ahead?smiley - smiley

yeah when I've got editing to do I usually spend a hell of a lot of time just looking to see if there's any worthwhile links to put in, it's a good way to get researchers out looking at other edited guide entries that might have been neglectedsmiley - smiley also it looks funkysmiley - winkeye

if you've got material in this thread for another couple of entries you should damn well go for it, if this one is as good as others you've writtensmiley - ok
