Hi everyone,

What you are all undertaking really does prove that just a few folk really can make an enormous difference to the world. Your trip is brilliant - well done John and Marie Christine.

Thought I would just tell you that the whole family is enjoying your great adventure with you by logging on to Save the Albatross daily, reading the daily log and joining in the conversation forums. It is a great way to keep up to date with how you are all getting along.

Note to Marie Christine: On reading your fascinating account of provisioning for the trip it made my mouth water. What a resourceful and inventive lady you are. By the way, when my brother (Rie's uncle Barry) met you in Tenerife he thought you were about 45!

Can't wait to read tomorrows log. Happy sailings and enjoy. Hope to read about the first Albatross soon.

Good luck and take care all of you.smiley - hug

love and best wishes

Hi,
This is a message from Bob Duncan, from Harare, Zimbabwe. Among other things during my time at Ardmore, I almost single handedly carried the materials for John's house up the hill, and in my spare time sailed on English Rose VI.
I'm not sure if this message will reach the crew on board, if it does, very best of luck on your great trip. I shall be in Cape Town approx 8th Oct, but will make sure I have a man to meet you and assist with your servicing etc should you arrive sooner, which looks likely.
Look forward to seeing you all,
You've done well to get this far without my help!
Bob

IN BONNY SCOTLAND,
WHERE THE NORTH WIND BLOWS,
WHERE THE AIR IS FRESH,

IN BONNY SCOTLAND,
WHERE THE MEN WEAR SKIRTS,
THE GIRLS ARE WILD,
AND THEY CALL THE BOYS FLIRTS

UP,
IN BONNY SCOTLAND,
THERE IS A GAME
THAT WEE SCOTS PLAY,
WHERE WE KICK OFF
BY CALLING EACH OTHER,
ARE YOU NOT
VERY
BRAVE

FIRST YOU MUST
SIEZE TAKE AND HOLD
BY THE BARK,
THAT KILTED CELTIC TOSSERS' CABER,
AND THEN TOSS IT AROUND
ON THE DECK IN THE DARK,
TO GET YOUR SOUL USED,
TO DOING SOME HARD PHYSICAL LABOUR

THEN YOU HAVE IN DEED,
TO BE VERY
VERY
BRAVE

'COS WHEN I TOSS THIS SCONE OF STONE
TO YOU,
IT,
WITH YOUR HEED,
YOU HAVE TO
