One of the earlier group efforts in h2 was instigated by a prolific researcher Zack Garland (Zachsmind). U36004
It was an attempt to write a sixth book in the H2G2 'trilogy'.
The concept was for other researchers to write short stories using the lesser characters from THHGTTG, or introduce new ones and to bring them together at the end of the book in the 'Big Bang Burger Bar' at the 'other end' of the Universe.
A number of stories were written but if memory serves, the project folded mainly due to worries about the legal implications of copyright etc. As such, it was probably one of the earliest attempts to encourage fiction within h2 and pre-dates the Alternative Writing Workshop. Something that while not actively discouraged, wasn't encouraged by TPTB back then.
