i put up a request for more players in a warhammer thread, but nobodies said anything. what world book(s) should i get for this?

Well I'll be using the two Ultratech books, Special Ops, and maybe Vehicles and Martial Arts. The two compendiums are good buys too.
None are essential for the campaign though, which is essentially modern day with some social changes.

Okay, can all players involved post a short character bio.
Each character is the member in a Colonial North police unit, but any background is acceptable if they have useful skills. Include things like personality traits, what they look like, family status etc.
I will then add the police template (which will include skills like Law, Criminology, Self-defence etc and the Duty and Law Enforcement advantage) and get it to a round 50 points. Then we can start.
