one link that some LDers might find useful as well...
those who want some help finding out how to manipulate their researcher's number to make it a 42 could go to A530560 ... they will get all the help they need...
there are other links like this one i'm sure but it was the first one on the search list...
enjoy...

there are a few BBC links in the Quotes section [link to it is on the bar page]... they will be easy to copy as they are in plain text...
i think it's great that you're making the most of the digibox... the BBC sites and the other DNA sites are there for the digibox to explore... so yep.. why not have a link for them on your page...

Please tell me how can I send a converstation to the moderators.
The one in question is What's wrong with the French thread.
It is extremely insulting and according to its author supposed to be a spoof to point out the hardhship suffered by American researchers.

One thing you can do is press the "yikes" button on any conversation post which you find extremely offensive. This is located somewhere to the right of the text and looks a bit different in each skin. In plain it is an exclamation mark in a triangle. In brunel it is an exclamation mark in a circle. In alabaster and goo it is a shocked face a little like the smiley. When you press this you get a new screen in which to explain what is wrong.
For an article page the yikes button is usually at the bottom.
If the problem is more general than a specific post, then you could try an email to the moderators. The only address I know is [email protected] but it might be too general or for the wrong area so you would have to explain exactly where the problem was.
Alternatively you could leave a message on <./>Feedback-Editorial</.>, but this is again a more general area.

There are a couple of possible reasons I can think of. Either the digibox won't let you start pop-up windows or you accidentally pressed on the picture at the bottom of the conversation page which is merely telling you what the ones to the right of the postings look like!
The link at the bottom of a page is just normal text saying "click here" embedded in the rest of the BBC disclaimer text. I probably should have been clearer about that, so I'm sorry if it was my fault it didn't work. If it was the former reason though, that's bad and we need to tell the italics on a Feedback page.
In the meantime I can make separate links for you to press to summon the moderators or do it myself if I know which thread you mean. At the moment I don't know where to look.

mornig jedi
morning SEF
the yikes button don't work on a digibox
they have to send a e-mail to the moderators ( but I can't think of the e-mail address ) or tell one of us which post it is and then we can yikes it for them

SEF other digibox users have had this problem and it was only solved by getting a PC user to post their complaints for them.

Good Morning SEF
Manda
I have sent a message to the Feedback team concerning my displeasure at the What's wrong with the French thread conversation.
Although I am a great believer in Free Speach, I cannot stand by and let the insults against France and the French people go unnoticed.
It is supposed to be a spoof and doing this highlighting the plight of what the American suffer on other postings. But I have always been told two wrongs never make a right. I have pointed out would not it be better to ask for more tolerance towards Americans citizens and for stop generalising them. He has has not answered this point. If you ask me to answer to your postings to him he makes on repeating this same mantra "you have not been reading the past postings". It is beyond a joke. He never answers to any questions or points that other researchers make to him.

That sounds like a serious design fault which should have been reported and some action taken. I suppose it's the result of rushing out the plain skin to be helpful. Otherwise they might have found a way of making the button on plain into a page-switching link rather than a pop-up.
Manda, is the email address I gave a couple of posts back not the right/same one?

Hi SEF
To be honest I don't know if that is the right e-mail address,
every time I have had to yikes anything I have always been on my PC so I just hit the button
I will ask mina if it correct and then I will put it on the LDes page

That sounds like a cunning plan, manda. Putting the email address where those researchers who need it can actually find it is entirely too helpful for the BBC to think of it. I had to go to quite some lengths to dig up the various email addresses I did find because the feedback etc pages were hopeless. Often the moderators seemed to ignore messages about the MBs though. I think they respond faster on h2g2 but that's with the yikes button.

Thanks, manda. I've added it to my lists of stuff here too. I now keep a lot of links people might need again in off-site files to be quicker than searching the h2g2 site repeatedly. I'm still a _@o" though in comparison with those permanently(?) online.

SEF: the digibox' problem with the yikes button has been reported before november... they obviously haven't found a solution yet...
liz: hi.... have you switched to GuideML for your entry?! [mmmm.. should have had a look at your space before posting...]... that's the only way to put pictures in an entry/intro unfortunately...
