JUST ME

TO THE ONE I LOVE
------------------
Did you know that God above,
created you for me to love
He sent you down from all the rest
because He knew Id love you best

I had a heart and it was true
but now its gone from me to you
take care of it darling as I have done
for now you have two and I have none

If I go to heaven and your not their
I'll write your name on a golden stair
so all the world can look and see
how much you really mean to me

and if your not there on judgement day
I'll know youve gone the other way
I'll give the angels back their wings
their golden harps and all those things
and just to prove my love is true
I'll even go through hell for you

FROM LONG DISTANCE by Tony Harrison

Though my mother was already two years dead
Dad kept her slippers warming by the gas
put hot water bottle her side of the bed
and still went to renew her transport pass

You couldn't just drop in.You had to phone
He'd put you off an hour to give him time
to clear away her things and look alone
as though his still raw love were such a crime

He couldn't risk blight disbelief
though sure that very soon he'd hear her key
scrape in the rusted lock and end his grief.
He knew she'd just popped out to get the tea.

I believe life ends with death, and that is all.
You haven't both gone shopping; just the same,
in my new black leather phone book there's your name
and the disconnected number i still call.

here is some promised poetry from cousin's husband dyland thomas

it's from the book called dreaming nightly of dragons

on the rocks

even the present lacks an ending:
she's gone and he keeps castle, we look on, debating which offender's past defending.

it's easy noe to reach verdict,
with hindsight's benefit the play's a cinch;
it's the future no-one's ready to predict.

how hearts are readily broken, units scattered, we sorrow ar each chaos, ashamed to sense
that time will show how nothing mattered.

dylan thomas

flat fields of essex

you sit cross-legged in eastern fashion, and silence dominates the room, only the low scratchings of my awkward pen etch their hubbub in the evening gloom.

flat fields of essex, flat grey skies, donate a certain dullness to the view, but i am only half aware of field and sky whose entire passion dwells alone on you.

i watch each tiny gesture of your mouth, and every nervous flicker of your breast, your rigid head, whose every thought dictates to me unrest or rest.

it is my one desire to set aflame
this small square room with double candlelight, and making love some splendid, certain game, set strong the noose and draw it nigh.

JUST ME

WHEN I AM
When your heart is breaking,
when you feel such pain;
when huge waves of anguish,
come again and again,
I am there beside you,I will hold your hand;
I will help you stand.

When betrayed by others, stabbed right in the heart;
life as once you knew it, is falling apart.
I am there to love you and help you find your way;
Give strength and courage to face the comming day.

When you are so lonely, when your loved one's gone;
There's nothing left to live for, feel you can't go on;
I can give you purpose and fill your life with peace.
Turn to me and trust me, I can bring release.

Life has changed forever, nothing is the same;
I know that you're not guilty, though you get the blame.
I am there to hold you until you feel secure.
Though they are accusing, lies cannot endure.

Feel your on a knife edge, everything is bleak?
Awful things are threatening and your feeling weak.
I am in the future, I know what I have planned;
It will fit together, then you'll understand.

To those of you that know me,
this is goodbye.
To those of you that know me,
your asking why.
I've had enough of the hurt and the pain.
Its sunny outside,
but in my heart it rains.
I've had enough of this miserable life.
Too much trouble,
too much strife.
The smile on my face,
has long since gone.
Its time to be free,
this life wont go on.
So goodbye to those that know me,
remember me for a while.
Picture me with a happy face.
Picture me with a smile.

Here is a poem written by late grandfather William Hogg Senior

Dear flesh and blood, in Mother Earth,
What comes from Earth, has endless worth.
From Earth'seat at heart, all life flows on;
The whole, the part, all's love, all's one.
Your life can't die, it finds new forms.

Dear heart and mind, your dreams, your soul;
Your gifts so kind, dwell with us now.
Your wish, your prayer, your aims, your acts,
In Earth's good care, are living fruits.
Your thought can't die, it finds new forms.

Dear Soul so still, God is your friend,
And his great will, can have no end.
Hi love through strife, shapes worlds in space.
To make all life, a means of grace.
Your soul can't die, if finds new form.

hi manda
i used to pit a lot of poems in ld when it was online but after it finished i had them published and have now started on some new ones here ive put one that maybe some will recognise from ld maybe and maybe some new ppl wont .lol hope you like it

its called Soldiers Dream
.........by richard williams

The heat of battle fills the air
The carnage of war lies everywhere
Deep in a trench a soldier dwells
Trying to keep down the fear he feels

Anytime now he will have to go
And fight an enemy he doesn’t know
His equipment checked he’s ready to fight
Hoping to god he’ll survive this night

His personal belongings he leaves behind
Standard procedure so the enemy can’t find
Can’t find out who he is or where he’s from
So he leaves behind photos of his family and his mom

He remembers the day that he left home
Leaving behind all that he had known
To fight in a war that was cruel and deadly
Hoping to return after doing is duty

He remembers the tears that his loved ones wept
As his boat sailed away to his destiny he kept
With the photos he carried in his pocket
Of his wife and child in a silver locket

He hears the whistle an order rings out
“10 minutes lads” the sergeant shouts
“Write your letters and check your kit”
“Rifles with bayonets coz you might need it”

With so little time to go and so much to say
With paper and pen he starts to write away
Words are hard as time passes by
To say how he feels just in case it’s goodbye
…He writes…

To my darling sweetheart
…. Well my love this is finally it, the big push has begun
and any moment now I’ll have to go and fight this war
No one wanted, but I’ll do my duty, as a good soldier should.
Hope you are well my love and our child is as beautiful
As ever, just like her mother, is England still the same as I
Remember it? Are the roses in our garden still the prettiest
We’ve ever seen?
Oh my love I’ve missed you so much during the long months
Away from you, please tell mother I received her parcel for my birthday and when I return I’ll bring her back a souvenir.
But you my love I’ve missed most of all how I long to be with you both now walking through the green fields beneath the blue-sky overhead.
Please if anything should happen to me don’t weep
For I will be with you both always
There goes the order to move out now my love I pray to
God that I will see your lovely face again.
Take care my darling I send my love to you both,
Your loving husband always
……………………………………………………

The letter wrote he takes his place
With his comrade in arms he looks to face
The enemy in front past no mans land
Where only the barbed wire posts still stand

Over the top he has to go
At a steady pace so he doesn’t show
The fear inside that’s making him sick
As the bullets come towards him fast and thick

A few days later a telegram arrives
At the home of a woman with a beautiful child
The telegram explains how her husband died
Together with his belongings he put to one side

Of the heroism he showed when he was all alone
And the enemy he fought until there was none

With tears flowing from her proud eyes
She takes her child and walks outside
Across the fields that he loved
Was that a bird singing? Or his spirit above?

You never can tell when the one you love
Will ever return from the heavens above
The body is gone but the soul remains
In the heart of a loved one
…Forever And Always

Everybody knows: You can't be all things to all people. You can't do all things at once. You can't do all things equally well. You can't do all things better than everyone else. Your humanity is showing like everyone else's.

So: You have to find out who you are, and be that. You have to decide what comes first, and do that. You have to discover your strengths, and use them. You have to learn not to compete with others. Because no one else is in the contest of "being you".

Then: You will have learned to accept your uniqueness. You will have learned to set priorties and make decisions. You will have learned to live with your limitations. You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due. And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare To Believe: That you are a wonderful, unique person. That you are are a once-in-all history event. That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are. That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish. And you'll be able to stay one upon what used to get you down.

Kat

I saw the mist in front of the moon,
Smothering the glow, too quick, too soon.
Metamorphosis, there in my sight,
A greying ache of black and white ... and the night.
The day that dawned with hope invited,
Exposed as illusion unrequited.
O give me wings, rainbow wings, and all of my things,
To treasure my soul just to know what life brings
And fly where the light lights the way,
In the dancing safety where certainties play.
But the chill of darkness strips my heat,
And my dance is set to an erratic beat,
Twisting the guts of a heart once courageous,
Shifting the sense of a silence contagious,
The silence above the stairs.
Familiar doors with inertia imposing,
No longer opening, no longer closing,
Just there. To warn us of life to beware.
Of dangers that sneer at their victim in sight,
Sniping contrivance from ungodly height.
A reversal of fortune, a difference in kind,
A truth in the space people leave behind.
A difficult truth, with roots in our youth,
That now grows thick in my mind.
An abhorrent vacuum, a thought of no thought,
Existences raised to the power of nought.
And the erratic beat drives a different rhythm,
Cleaving a future to a maddening schism.
Revolved by angles of dimensions strange,
Dissolved in a lost edge of counterchange,
I see opportunities before my eyes
Scatter like a flock of butterflies,
Disturbed by the presence that opens the door
And enters like they've been here before.

I squinted through spills of tired myopia
that fogged my sense of space,
Searching for a beam of warm Utopia
to dawn a smile on my face.
And that curious smile grew slowly wide
To welcome this apparent friend inside,
But not a greeting nor word was spoken,
The fragile atmosphere stayed unbroken
And balanced on a tightrope of mood stretched taut,
Walked by trust that is earned, never bought,
And that trust was similar, almost the same,
as one that I knew but couldn't recall,
The eyes recognised would not fit a name,
and name ungiven is no name at all.
But the air touched my skin with sympathy,
where once was worn just pins and needles,
This shallow sea now swelled in me,
where lost insinuation wheedles.
But not now, no more, not ANY more,
Nor all of the things that came before.
Now I know what my friend says to me,
And why we are here, and what I can see.
This is my home, what my habit's about,
Now I seek to grow, within and without,
And my friend has come to take me along
To places new, where I might belong.
"That'll be a nice change from the norm, the mundane.
I wonder if I'll see more old friends again,
and the ones I loved and loved to know?"
But the look on his face said it wasn't so.
I swallowed an anxious nothing down
and tasted the colours of a palate dry,
Felt the weight of a sinking frown,
that shaped the fateful question, "Why?"
I felt desperate fear, more desperately near,
A whispered taunt on a dream frontier,
Layers of unsleep not synchronized,
Like Russian Dolls all hypnotized,
confused by a depth insincere.
Those bitter colours unsaturated,
the vivid hues of life bereft,
A changing sense evaporated,
an epiphany of what I've left.
There I remembered my erratic beat,
That body of music was now barely meat.
Frozen with a mangled expression,
like sandcastles trampled to bullied ruin,
Victim of a cannibal aggression,
driven by hope of what might be true in
This life of future fleeting and porous,
absorbing the tail of the ouraborus.
As I watch the fate of past ennui,
I now know my silent friend is me.
The stars dim out, the horizon fades,
The integrity of the world degrades.
I wish I could have lingered, stayed,
I'm so sorry, uncertain, so very afraid.
There's no tunnel of light, no angelic choir,
No demons and devils, no brimstone and fire,
Just advance ... of expanse.
"Come on then," I say, "Let's Dance!"
I wish for life and its hardy persistence,
But now just regret amidst breeding distance.
My precious will is no longer free,
Its price is the dream that I still want to be.
I hoped that life would bloom, not diminish,
But it`s now just the art that I`ll never...
