Hey there everybody (thank you smiley - fullmoon for inviting me)! No, I haven't read these. Tell me more about them!

I've ordered From Hell and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen quite a few weeks ago and am still expecting them. They're taking ages to arrive!

hi kow...

i'm relatively lucky as where i live now i got one relatively big specialised comic books shop...smiley - cool

haven't visited it for a while but will sure have a look at spawn...

i might have seen the comic books and flick through them a while ago... but not the graphic novels... [got some trading cards from the publishing company as well...smiley - wow will have a look at what they say on it...]

i'm a keen frank miller fan myself... but i also recognise that some of the british artists have done a good job in the comic books fields...smiley - cheers

The first time I came across Marvel comics when I was about 10 and I saw a discarded comic on aboard the ferry from Silvertown to Greenwich. It started me buying them, the comics are still being made and now are more diverse and even cover stories like Doctor Who and Star Wars. Of all sci-fi magazines they are most reasonably priced as sci-fi and cult magazines are quite pricey.

JA

BTW I am read Star Wars comic books which I was given for my Christmas presents they are published by Dark Horse Comics/Lucas books. The stories I have cover the time when Obi-Wan was a young teenager Padawan and the adventures he had with his Master Qui- Gon Jinn. It is set before Phantom Menance.

tintin and asterix are great...smiley - smiley

i have been brought up with them in a way...smiley - cool but i found the characters in the magazine i mentioned drawn in a more "realistic" way...

tintin, asterix and lucky luke are more on the fun side of the comic books field...

tho' some of the tintin adventures have been seen as controversial a few times...smiley - smiley

oh now you got me started...smiley - biggrin asterix has also been used to help teach [french] history as well as languages...

and as the clock is saying 2.19 am, i will stop there...smiley - smiley

i think what i wanted to say was that i do like tintin and asterix too...smiley - smiley but not as much as some of the american superheroes...smiley - wow

does anyone know anything about captain britain?!... i've read some of it at the beginning.. then lost touch... looks like he got a very different costume now...

talk soon...smiley - surfer

I remeber reading about Asteric and Tintin in comics. I think it was written in French, even though I did not understand the language it did not deter me reading it as somehow I understood what the story line was.

Hello everybody!

I'm a Tintin and Asterix fan as well. Anybody knows Blake and Mortimer? Great comics too.

Kow: thanks for pointing out the link smiley - ok. Actually I've read the French edition, so I know most of what has happened and I should be more or less spoiler-proof (then again, one never knows).

I just learned yesterday that Patrick Moerell suddenly died aged 52. He was amongst my favourite cartoonists from Fluide Glacial (for those who know) and too young to pass away.

If you speak French, check http://www.fluideglacial.com to find out more (not 100% sure about the URL though smiley - erm).

hi toybox...

yep... i know blake and mortimer... also got two CD's with their adventures in french... will have to check the name of the actors for the voices... and blake is actually pronounced differently in each adventure... now that you got me started on it i might write a little something around that...smiley - whistle

thanks for the link... certainly sad news...smiley - cry and yep 52 is definitely too young to die...smiley - smiley i'm sure he had still lots to offer to the "bande dessinee"/comic books...
