Entry: Tenochtitlan - A9041816
Author: Cardi-Bling a yo ho ho and a barrel of rum - U1619796
This was part of a university project I was going to carry out about Mesoamerican cities but I’ve not got the time to write another 4 entries or so. I like this entry and want it in the guide so I thought I’d PR it now as if I pressed on with the uni project it’d never get finished!
I need to go through this with a tooth comb still and correct the spelling & grammar. I then need to add all the various links to around the rest of the guide but in the mean time what do you guys think of this entry..

Wow- no wonder the rest of this project was taking you so long. Have you ever considered splitting this entry in two?
In the mean time, the thing that struck me error wise is that quite a few of your footnotes have spaces in front of them- they should be immediately next to the words they are attatched to. I'll look through again later and see if I can spot anything else. This is a great entry though, extremely thorough and really interesting.

How is the ch in tenochtitlan pronounced? It is the same as in the English word "notch"? Or is it like a Scottish "loch"? Perhaps you could explain this.

Yeah its closer to notch than it is to loch! I'll adjust the footnote.

Fine Entry!
I think the beginning is particularly effective - inviting the reader to visualise the place and the time. It's a lively start and you sustain it well, too.
A consistent spelling of Cortez/Cortes is needed.
I never realised that it took nearly two years for him to take the city. What a story!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Thanks for all the support guys. I don't know if this is too late or not but when the scout picked this entry I hadn't got around to adding all the links to other entries in h2g2. I don't know wether that is possible now or if it's up to the sub-ed to do?

You can't edit the sub's version, but if you want to help the sub, you can post the links you thought of adding here, and the sub will find them

Your sub will try to put in a load of links, but they will also, in all likelihood, show you the subbed entry before it goes to the editors so you can comment on it and suggest any changes you didn't make.
