Minor - is only interested in renegotiating his contract for no more than 3 years (2 years at 1.25m, 3 years at 1.15m)

Konrad is not currently interested in extending his contract

Dyer will happily renegotiate. His requested salaries are: 2yr 850k, 3yr 750k, 4yr 800k, 5yr 1.00m, 6yr 1.15m

Gadsden would like an extended contract: 2yr 3.40m, 3yr 3.30m, 4yr 3.15m, 5yr 3.00m, 6yr 3.15m, 7yr 3.30m

McMichael will renogotiate for no more than a 4 year contract: 2yr 900k, 3yr 800k, 4yr 900k

Clark is currently happy with his contract and doesn't want an extension

Dixon is happy to renegotiate: 2yr 2.15m, 3yr 2.05m, 4yr 2.15m, 5yr 2.25m, 6yr 2.35m, 7yr 2.55m

Ogunleye would like to renegotiate: 2yr 2.05m, 3yr 1.80m, 4yr 1.55m, 5yr 1.75m

Royals would be happy to re-sign at any length for 900k

I accept Travis Minor's proposal for 3 years at 1.15M. That should give me plenty of time to turn him into a true #1 and get some good talent for him in a trade, and meanwhile I like him as insurance for Williams.

Screw you then, Konrad... I'll start Dyer next year.

I accept Dyer's proposal of 4 years at 800k.

Gadsden's price is too high, so I must decline.

McMichael's contract of 4 years at 900k is reasonable.

Desmond Clark just offered himself as trade bait... I knew I'd only be keeping one of the two.

I accept Dixon's proposal of 3 years at 2.05M.

Sign Ogunleye to that 5 year deal before he sees me jumping with glee.

Do retired people leave a cap penalty? If they don't, I'll be happy to sign him to a long contract. Otherwise, it's time to look at that 25 year-old with the 84 overall in free agency.

No, retirees do not leave cap penalties...

I hope you've ensured you're within the cap after all these re-signings... and can still afford Searcy, of whom there has been precious little interest from other teams... don't want to come back and berate yousmiley - winkeye

If you haven't, do you want to put these in some kind of priority...?

Konrad can have it. I've got depth there. Same with TE. smiley - tongueout
One of my TE's would get traded regardless, but I would have kept Konrad if he'd wanted to stay smiley - tongueout

I hadn't bothered to check, because I knew I had $6.05M worth of cap room, and none of these deals are very big. But since you asked, I went ahead and checked. Even if I do all these deals plus the Searcy deal as currently proposed, I'll only incur $4M of increased spending.

If I took Gadsden's offer, I'd be broke. And he's not that good.

Go ahead and pull the trigger on all these deals except Royals. I think I would like to offer the young punter a contract after all. He'd save me a bit of space while providing me a nice upgrade. Let's see if he'll sign for 6 years at 750k.

You referring to former Giant Rodney Williams who kicked a 90+ yarder against the Broncos on Monday night a couple of years ago?

90+ yards? Jesus H. Christ!

That appears to be the guy.

Indeed!! The other thing that gets me about that game is all those New Yorkers getting to see their team beat, and then waking up the next day to see the terrifying on their TV's... always strikes me when I watch that game on tape!!

Oh... and Mr Williams and his agent are considering your offer..

Minor, Dyer, McMichael, Dixon and Ogunleye have all signed extended contracts.

The trade for Saleem Rasheed has gone through with Sage Rosenfels shipped to San Francisco. (That's McNown and Rosenfels to SF in the same off-season.... hmmm, interestingsmiley - winkeye)

Searcy and Williams are interested in signing for you. However, you are currently at the 55 player roster limit and you will need to create room before you can sign them.

You are also required to have 3 QB's on your roster and need to obtain another, again whilst remaining within the 55 player limit...

That sucks about the third QB... 2k2 let you go with only 2 active QBs... and it was high comedy when my opponent had to sub in their punter.

I'd like to release the following players:

Marcus Spriggs
David Bowens
Mark Royals
Jim Bundren

That should make room for the guys I want to sign. Aside from Searcy and Williams, I'd like to make two more offers:

QB Tee Martin - 2 years @ 650k
FB Donnell Bennett - 3 years @ 650k

When I come to terms with Bennett I'd like to complete the trade of Robert Konrad to Chicago for Mike Gandy.

Post 14

FiedlersFizzle

Spriggs, D.Bowens, Royals and Bundren have been released...

Tee Martin has agreed to 2 years at $650k
Donnell Bennett has agreed to 3 years at $650k
Leon Searcy has agreed to 3 years at $650k

Rodney Williams is not interested in signing for 6 years but may be interested in a shorter contract.

Now that the first week of pre-season is underway, the trade of R.Konrad cannot go through although the Bears will again be interested in discussing this at the close of play...

Post 15

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit

Damn. I wanted to have Gandy in uniform so I could play him every down... I know the Bears won't.

Let's offer Williams a 5-year and then 4-year. If he still won't sign after the four-year deal, let me know.

Oops, just noticed a simulpost... I'll go check with Williams... as for Gandy, he'll likely play one full half with Chicago, so if they still decide to trade (unforseen injuries could change their mind) before the second game, that's 3 and a half full games for him... not an unmitigated disastersmiley - smiley
