I'm going to eschew the nice table VRHG has provided, because there are elements it is missing, and it's just easier to put it all here.
Here's my preseason roster. They will be set to play every down, unless noted otherwise. Reserves will be left up to you in a lot of positions; I'll just name the starters.
QB:
Rosenfels
Lucas
Fiedler
HB:
Minor
Williams
Edwards
FB:
Dyer - start first two games
Konrad - start next two games
WR:
Johnson
Baker
Chambers
Ward
Gadsden
McKnight
TE:
McMichael
Clark - but get him the ball... promote him to #1 in the 4th quarter or something if you have to.
Weaver
Perry
OL:
LT - Wade
LG - Smith
C - McKinney
RG - Spriggs
RT - Nails
DE:
Ogunleye
Haley
DT:
Chester
Tim Bowens - But he shouldn't have to be on the field much, because I'll be wanting you to play a lot of 3-4 in preseason. I have more linebackers who need preseason exposure than linemen.
OLB:
Taylor
Greenwood
MLB:
Hendricks
Seaverns
CB:
Fletcher
Lowe
Green - And first substitute for any secondary positions
FS:
Gamble
SS:
Freeman
KR:
Chris Chambers
Albert Johnson
PR:
Travis Minor

am I to assume you want these to play all through through the pre-season and eschew the PS2 'Sven Goran Erikson' feature to mass substitute at half time?

You could do it that way for FB and TE rather than changing the lineups for the third game... whichever works better for you.

Blather, I've updated the Line-up table with the different special positions, like 3rd Down back, nickel back and Dime back, as well as the O and D strategies. Text based file is at A967359 and the GuideML version is at A935075 to compare.

I'd like to open the Free Agency period for my team by tendering an offer to Leon Searcy, opening bid is 3 years at $1.3M

FiedlersFizzle Posted Feb 25, 2003
Searcy and his agent are considering your offer and will get back to you...

Muchas gracias.
I'd also like to begin negotiations for contract extentions with the following players:
Travis Minor
Rob Konrad
Deon Dyer
Oronde Gadsden
Randy McMichael
Desmond Clark
Mark Dixon
Adewale Ogunleye
Mark Royals
I'd like to know what it would cost to sign them all to 5-year deals, except Gadsden. Him, I'd like to sign to a 3-year deal.
And this is just for my own notes, I'd like to approach the following players if they show good progress in the preseason:
Sage Rosenfels
Albert Johnson
Arturo Freeman

Unfortunately, the PS2 will not allow me to find out what players will accept for certain year periods... I will tell you what kind of a raise, if any, each player will expect before re-signing to a new contract...

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Feb 25, 2003
I guess I should have anticipated that. When I'm doing it myself, I can just decide if I approve of the pay raise they're asking for, set my number of years, and see if they sign... if not, adjust or abort accordingly. But you can't figure out what they'll settle for until you tender the offer, and when you find something they'll accept, they've already accepted it, so it's too late to run it by me.
Unless... you save the league first, then sign each player to the contract extensions I've asked for, note the price changes, and exit the league without saving changes.
But, whichever way you think works best. You're the boss.

FiedlersFizzle Posted Feb 25, 2003
hmmm, I hadn't thought of that... the saving first... good idea!! I feel it would be more realistic for a player, or his agent, to inform you of his price for agiven number of years before actually signing...

Another thing that would be useful to pass on is whether they accept the first offer or not. For instance, if Travis Minor wants a $1.5M raise for a 5 year deal, I wouldn't want to pay him that much just to be a backup. But if it took more money to get him to agree to a 5-year deal because he wanted a shorter contract, I'd want to know that. Maybe we'd be able to come to terms on a shorter deal.
Most of the time when I play 2k2, they take the first offer, but sometimes they don't. They always start with the number that they want for a new deal, but young players often reject long deals unless you offer more cash than they first proposed.

Please take Jason Taylor off of OLB and replace him with Salaam Rasheed... and blitz him, work him like a dog, whatever you have to do to get him some big stats in the preseason.
Since Sage Rosenfels will not be joining us, I'd like Lucas to be my fulltime starter at QB.
