Oh, and BBS, Tim Brown won his Heisman in 1987... 1988 was his rookie year with the Raiders...

Shame on you...smiley - winkeye

You'd figure that I, being the huge college football fan that I am, would eat this question alive. smiley - grr

Anyway, my office mate reminded me this morning that Chris Weinke (I think that's how his name is spelled) has won one and he's a QB for the Panthers. After racking my brains this morning, I have remembered that QBs Ty Detmer (I've heard his name somewhere, so I know he's still playing - don't ask me where) and Danny Weurffel (however you spell his last name, I think he's with the Packers?) have also won the trophy.

So, what's that bring us up to now? (by FF's reckoning, which I'll trust smiley - winkeye) Do we still need a RB besides Ricky Williams? I can't think of anyone else still active in RB position that was stellar enough to get the highest college football player's honor.

Wanders in. Hmm, well, I make it

4 QBs, 3 RBs, 1 WR and 1 CB, as follows;

Carlson Palmer
Eric Crouch
Chris Weinke
Ty Detmer (still keeping down a spot at Stevie M's Lions)

Ron Dayne (though the term 'active' seems a little optimistic here)Ricky Williams
Eddie George

Tim Brown

Charles Woodson

Hows that?

Bright Blue Shorts

I'll just adjust Sharkey's list on the QBs ...

Carlson Palmer
Chris Weinke
Ty Detmer (still keeping down a spot at Stevie M's Lions)
Vinny T
Doug Flutie

Ron Dayne
Ricky Williams
Eddie George

Tim Brown

Charles Woodson

** ---

As for not know Timmy Brown, won his Heisman in '87; it's more a case of the bloody thing being awarded in December rather than after the season ends which pushes it back into the previous year.

OK well, drat, it IS a fouled question. I thought Flutie had retired, but i see that he is still playing for San Diego.

MY, incorrect, list was:
Vinny
Detmer
Weinke
Palmer

George
Williams
Dayne

Brown

Woodson

But, of course, Flutie makes TEN.

Crud. Sorry all.

Shall I pose another question. One with a definate answer. . .

RIGHT NOW, who leads the NFL in scoring?

Friar

ps. You may whip me with touchdown towels now. . .

Cheers to JD!

Well, sorry about the mishap. I'll try to not be such a schmuck in the future.

Anyway, the original question was an interesting one, if improperly worded. As such I think it must be discarded. The rebound question JD got right on the first try.

Good job JD, your point and your question.
