If you do end up with your Personal Space showing in another site, as soon as you click onto one of your h2g2 conversations you'll be back to h2g2. smiley - smiley

Thanks Mina
Why is the 'My BBC' tag on every DNAhub site except h2g2 ?

It's on Brunel, under the menu bar on the left. If it's not on the other skins it's because they were designed before we got to the BBC.

Thanks again Mina.
I haven't got my head round Skins yet.
I'll experiment a bit to get a better understanding.
I find the whole business of which skin for which Hub Web site a little confusing. There should be a skin for old newbies. smiley - smiley
I came across 'My BBC' via h2g2 --> DNAhub
The BBC Search Engine reveals:-

Who do you think that 'My BBC' is aimed at ?

Further to the above I tried to put this Link on 'My Space' to escape the Hub skin.
It doesn't work. Could you tell me why please ?

Because Personal Spaces aren't 'fixed' in one DNA site in the same way that conversations and entries are, the links will stay in the site that you are in. You'll need to link to an entry or conversation so that you can get back to h2g2. The Front Page perhaps, or the A version of your Personal Space.

I'm slowly getting there Mina, my learning curve has a few hairpins.
I hope others are learnung too.
If you get fed up tell me to b****r off. smiley - smiley
Doesn't the fact that Personal Spaces are not 'fixed' to a specific DNA site cause more problems then it solves ?
This would seem to be the root cause of all my confusion.

Among other things it creates the need for a link back. At the moment I use 'My BBC' that seems to have a tag on every DNA site. As you indicate that once you have knowledge of the problem there are numerous solutions

It doesn't seem to cause many problems for the majority, because Researchers have often been around for a while by the time they stumble onto other sites.

I personally find it irritating that the My Space link keeps me on ther DNA sites, but I get round this by using my Personal Space as the home page in my browser.

We can't change it though, due to the way the software works.

Shouldn't you have said
It doesn't seem to cause many problems for the majority of h2g2 Researchers because they have often been around h2g2 for a while by the time they stumble onto other sites.

My lurking around shows me that h2g2 has a lot of devoted researchers, some of whom are not bothered how or or from where the site derives as long as they get what they want.

Thanks for your help - AncientBrit.

Only h2g2 users are called Researchers (excpet for maybe 360). The rest have are called members if I remember correctly (although the default nickname is 'Researcher 2xxxxx', that's not what they call them).

I have just realised that the reason that the reason that the LINK
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/U197657 in my space doesn't get me out of other DNA sites is because my space is still in plain text.smiley - huh. Just laziness.

I have just recently created a short cut back to My Space and put it on my desktop. This is a very simple and easy way to get back to familiar ground. smiley - smiley
