Is this where I can have just 1 tiny but very heartfelt whinge please?
What bugs me the most is that it changes your body language, it's physically difficult to lounge around, snuggle up, turn your head to look at your loved one etc.
There, better now,
Terri again.

YA! I do NOT care for that especially when people TELL YOU --you have closed body language. I am most comfy in that position. The head- oH OUCH twisting turning or NOt good. I was taught EYE contact is important. It is, just do not read me as CLOSED! I am nOT CLOSED! Warped-off center, off balance, slow, NOT CLOSED

Oh,it's OK really, he wouldn't dream of accusing me of iffy body language etc; it's just ME, hankering after times when I could bounce around like a demented ferret!
Anyway, we've just spent a blissful moment sorting out the jelly teddies into our favourite colours; that sort of thing is Far More Important (tee-hee, I've got a black one, yum-yum!)

whinger continued........I figured your sweetie was not a problem as far as body language. I meant body language for the outings and social happenings around aquaintences and strangers. It's strangers trying to "help me LOOK more open" because my body language is telling the world I am closed or depressed or shy and how... "JUST" changing that would be ! Instead of understanding I do not always have those options. Excuse...what are jelly teddies? I do remember an entry now,Yes about your dolls when I first signed up.

Hello, fellow D.M.N's! It's me back again; & NO I'm not whinging (except maybe a little one, only me is allowed to call me a whinger)
We're probably doing all this general chat in the wrong bit aren't we? Shouldn't it be in the Living room, or have I got it wrong? Never mind, I'll just carry on for now till someone tells me to go away!
I think it's a BRILLIANT idea if Moose can do the home-page bit; you obviously know all about the flashy graphics, mysterious GuideML, magic reference no.s etc!
Regarding the "snake digging holes" question, I don't know either, but I'm going to e-mail it to a magazine which invites questions that no-one else can answer, the person whose question gets used wins a book "How to do just about anything on the computer": this sounds like a great tool for any of us, so get thinking of questions so we can all get a copy! Other things they are looking for are:
humorous examples of the way kids see life
humorous/appealing real life incidents
funny thigs that happen at work
funny things at college
funny/weird ideas about living in the computer age
Get your thinking caps on! I reckon between us we could come up with loads of ideas!
Re: time differences, I put an idea somewhere that maybe we could all list where we are so we can work this out, I'll look later & get back to you on this.
Abbi, I know what you mean re: body language comments in public, I think there's a bit of a cultural difference here though, from what I've read people in U.S seem more likely to make that sort of comment, having read "pop-psychology" type books; here in Europe people tend not to comment at all if they can get away with it. I've found the French attitude to bodies in general is much healthier than the British, a great blend of practicality & sensuality! (I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that they are genuinely more open about the fact that we all have a body, sometimes it's brilliant, more often than not it's fallible, c'est la vie!)
JELLY TEDDIES!! You know what jelly beans are I'm sure; these are the same but teddy shaped, so you can get a malicious, sick satisfaction from mutilating them, and be utterly politically incorrect by dividing them up by colour (yes, they DO all taste different!!)So now you know!
Off to look at the other rooms. See ya later, alligator!
Terri.

Great Stuff!!! Wouldn't we make good spies! What's incredible to me is that I only got the internet 2 months ago, only discovered h2g2 1 mth ago, & it's just opened up a whole new world for me, the brain cells are buzzing like never before!!
Even though M & I talk together in English, & to be honest a lot of the time his is BETTER than mine!! I still feel slightly deprived of being able to talk to someone where it's not their 2nd language; ie they have grown up with the whole cultural bit ( mind you, you're American aren't you? Some would argue that the culture there is so totally different, & this is reflected in the different language structure
oh dear, I do ramble on! Thank your lucky stars I only type with 2 fingers (1 if I've got a ciggie on the go!)
Been up all night YET AGAIN; my sleep patterrns are really weird, can't sleep at night, make up for it with daytime snoozes as & when.
Read your bit about the age thing; I agree! here's a "THINX"
1.) "they" were probably right; but "you" still have to find that out for yourself.
2.) by the time you realise 1.) it's normally too late to use this information; all you can do is pass it on to younger ones who subscribe to theory 1.)!!
I thik it's probably time for bed now! Look forward to hearing from you (we'll be knocking on each others doors at this rate -- do put me out of my misery & tell me whereabouts you are!

OH I was so hoping you would get my mail before leaving.( 10:30 pm Colorado/Rocky Mountain High)) I have been new to "puters" in the last year. I found h2 g2 early on with my ancient puter that was quickly trashed for a better one! I loved the net immediately! This place is so much better than many of them. I never got into chat but enjoy reading a few weblogs. Overall I thought h2g2 was more intelligent--funny--more of a community.I have fantasies of writing. I have lost so much brain power it would have to be a combined effort. That certainly attracted me. I also looked at the nuero stuff here and was turned off. I did go to your page and Captain Beefhearts! Funny U mentioned him to me, U two were the only ones I visited. then there was 6 mos before I got back here. I have not left this time! If your mail works like mine, just reply to me and we'll have the first link done. You are a wonderful motivator! Do you know that U have a talent there TOO? You are Veeeery interesting. I wondered about the language. I am amazed the whole site is excellant with English & Moose is so Americanized in her slang and speech. Amazing! Fun!

hey! no making fun of the Moose! i am not americanised...i had to have it explained to me exactly what a triscuit was...man that was embarrassing....anyway...what are australians sposed to sound like? we don't have our own culture...we just pinch everyone elses...
do we really want a campaign for a thinker smiley on the Nation?
the Struggle- for when it is really hard
zendevil Posted Dec 5, 2002
YO!!
Yes, I'd love a campaign for a thinker, unless the rest of you hate the idea, on the grounds of:
1. I do feel it's a logical smiley to have for a site like h2g2
2. I feel it's especially relevant for "people like us"; maybe we have some physical limitations at times, but the 'ol grey matter is still there & exercise (as far as I know) is good for it.
3. Having seen your moose campaign, something like this can generate a lot of "passing visitors" who might well get something out of the rest of De Myelin Nation; not least of all possibly a more positive way of viewing people by what they CAN do not what they can't (I've been very lucky in that respect, but I'm aware that others may not have been.)
Re: geographical location in the real world (for times etc. I'll try & work out later; so far we have
Abbi -- Colorado, U.S.A
Terri -- France, Europe
If you let me know where you are Moose, and mrs the wife too, I'll try & work it all out!
All for now, maybe going back to bed, been up all night! (thinx:why no owl smiley?)
