Diet restrictions are NO fun smiley - sadface Do U have a lot of them? You must eat fresh a lot. I see why you would want to be a veggi in that case! That would probably make eating easier, more comfy. Can you eat peanuts?

smiley - devil Ok, time to admit to myself, my right side is getting worse. I was always glad the worst was not on my dominant side. smiley - sadface I hope the loss will level off now. I am just NOT ready to loose more function! I had not quite caught up to reality and adjusted to the last drop. No ONE, is ever ready for loss of function. I was hoping for a temp thingy, of course. I know its been too long...smiley - sadface

smiley - steam Watched this TV guy go on about his eating plan, bought for $$. This woman was "cured" of this and that all vague except for a mysterious mycoplasm. Well gee, there was her parrot right there on the show whom probably gave it to her! Early in this advertisement it states she was cured of smiley - wow CFS! smiley - wow But later.... state it was chronic fatique. Chronic fatique is the MOST common complaint Dr(s) hear. smiley - steam Fatigue is Fatique! That is NOT EQUAL to CFS an Imune Disfuction Syndrome! Its not about "JUST being TIRED"! smiley - steam Good grief, the whole world is TIRED! Bet if they R not tired, they are BORED & BORING! smiley - laugh WHEW ! Had to say that! Its my #1 pet peeve: Vulnerable people being taken advantage of . *I DO believe in good nutrition and common sense smiley - smiley* smiley - disco OK, done now. smiley - blushsmiley - disco

Oh abbi, I KNOW how you feel (but don't you justHATE it when people say that'cos they can't possibly . But at least all4 of us know that one of the worst aspects of allthis (if not THE worst) is how bloody UNPREDICTABLE it all is! One day smiley - flyhi think "oh, it's not so bad really, thank your lucky stars etc." THEN.....
ALL of us seem to have gone through or are still going through a "bad bit" at the moment -- maybe a combination of the "high" but hard work of getting this up & running, plus Xmas, plus of course for Moose & mrs young kids as well -- I can't IMAGINE how you can handle that; you must have the patience of saints & VERY helpful partners (thank the whatever for those!!)
I had a real baddie too; 2 days back, a Xmas fair based around a local bar we go to a lot, had to go & support them , plus M was meeting up with some friends he hadn't seen for 10 yrs & wanted to introduce me. It was FREEZING COLD; I don't know if anyone else is the same; but I am incredibly sensitive to cold generally, & because of the GBS I can't actually tell what's going on in my feet,ie they get colder & colder till there's NO sensation, circulation etc; then I try to stand up ;;; oh dear. Especially embarassing when you're trying to make a good impression on people & DON'T want to go into gory details about bloody de-myelination!!!
Anyway, we stayed FAR too long, I was virtually carried (whimpering) home & collapsed into bed, fell straight asleep for once, only to wake up screaming (YES!) because poor M had accidentally brushed against my toe! As my feet thaw out, the nerves go ballistic & send shooting spasms to ANY other nerve they can find, so I can end up with earache from my feet etc! IT DRIVES ME MAD!
Thank god it doesn(t happen too often & does eventually calm down (soluble paracetomol helps a bit; I'm not allowed to take anything stronger) but at the time I'm inconsolable.
I REALLY hope the rest of you aren't like this; please be reassured that what I've got is incredibly rare, but likewise if you ARE suffering you can be sure that I will truly empathise; so long as I'm not in the midst of a baddie myself (if so I'll get back to you when it's passed off a bit)
We MUST try & do something to find out more about this wretched thing. h2g2 could be a fantastic place to access a few statistics & then go armed with them to the people who can do some real research.
For instance; me, Abbi, mrs are all veggies & I take it you are too smiley - reindeer(please confirm) &we allseem to have food allergies. That's a start. We alllive in different parts of the world; not many researchers can directly ask REAL people REAL questions on a personal basis; we're all female,2 similiar ages, 1 very young, don't know about the other one.
I've done some work on medical statistics etc before & am naturally nosy & was married to an epidemiologist. If I was to construct a CONFIDENTIAL questionnaire (to be answered by e-mail or snail-mail, not on here) would you be willing to take part? Abbi, myself & mrs are allin e-mail contact now so it would be easy to link up.

Anything we could do to combat the sort of ill-informed nonsense that is currently being displayed under the heading "neuropathy" would be my next move personally. It's enough to make me feel suicidal when I'm feeling down!!

Did you know if you try & search for links "de-myelinationANDvitaminB" there aren't any????

WHAT a heavy entry! But I felt it had to be said; if anyone can beat this IT'S US!!
Abbi, re: the loss on the right; it happened to me too; but when I was under really heavy stress. When I was less stressed out, it seemed to get better, so there IS hope. It hasn't re-appeared after this last episode, though my left(worse) side is worse at the moment (early days yet)

Thank goodness for the wwwhinging room!

Hi Terr- I am NOT veggie anymore. And the cold sends me into spasms that are painful and exhuasting. On-lookers swear it is a seizure! My hubby still wonders sometimes, he is glad when it all settles down. The heat makes me smiley - ill. Temperature is very important! I am nearly content if Temp is OK! IT IS the SIMPLE things! I had to eat fish and poultry becuase I eat very little. My teeth-bowel problems became an obstacle to nuts, smiley - lovenuts! Now I have found almond and cashew butter. Peanut butter is getting more respectable in the health and nutrician areas! HMMMMM ..GOOD! And they go with smiley - choc!! Vitamin B is all important (stress and nerve function) and so is Magnesium for muscles. There are "stress" formulas that have great b&c combos.I believe in vitamins but NOT overdoing. A&E very important. Many b's and A can be toxic. Even vitamin C can do in your kidneys! Fish oil is major thing. Eating or fish oil capsules. Go cheap, pure, simple when possible. More is NOT always better.Forget ALL energy formulas unless you know all ingrediants. Many have adrenal type things in them.IMO-- NO to all.I had a parrotsmiley - love Be sure you have a "bird vet" it pays for your health to keep them healthy. Many mycoplasms, birds carry. Birds carry a lot of thingys that are OK with them NOT humans. They are usually lung-immune sysytem problems. I believe many problem are a combo of 3 things that happen back to back or simutanious insults. For instance alcohol and cigarets are poison. You add the two the % is far more than 2x's the risk. You add another and you are gonna have trouble. Pick any 3 things. Family hx--stress--virus-infection-lifestyle ect the more compounded pproblems the more likey to be affected.ALL know all affect the immune system. I hope this is some help. All have to do what is best for them. Simplify life as much as possible stress wise! I had to learn when and how to say NO!smiley - smiley Please forgive all useless info!I do not have a good feel for what others know yet.smiley - angel
