New Brighton Ebbing Tide
SashaQ writes: Recently at New Brighton a good number of birds took advantage of the ebbing tide, when fresh nutrient-rich sand was revealed. I can see:
- Black-headed Gulls in winter plumage, with grey backs, red legs, white heads and black 'ears'
- Juvenile Herring Gulls - larger than the Black-headed Gulls, with brown and white speckled plumage
- Turnstones - small birds with dark head and back plumage, and white underneath
- Sanderlings - small birds with pale grey and white plumage
