Paige: I think that this is an earthball fungi but it is larger than any I have seen before (size of a clenched fist plus large part of the wrist).

Post Editor, at a loss for words: I see.

Paige: It looks better the other way round as the fungi was top to bottom.

Post Editor: There's no way it could look better to me. I tend to be indifferent to fungal beauty. Turns photo upside down. Okay, I rotated it. You're right. It looks marginally better. Quite nice, for a mushroom.

Please enjoy this fungus. It has been lovingly photographed.
