I've seen birds exhibit mobbing behavior

"Predators are subjected to 'mobbing', where birds will fly at them, loudly calling, and sometimes 'dive-bombing' them."

We once had a bird-killing cat in my neighborhood. Birds would gang up and divebomb the cat.

Since this type of bird prefers short grasslands, where on a farm would these grasslands occur?: Would wheat fields qualify as grasslands?

Hello! So far now birds have actually mobbed my cat. But he's not really came close to killing any bird yet! I've been mobbed by crowned lapwings a few times.

On a farm such grasslands would be the areas where the cattle graze. They would keep the grass short enough. Some farmers may even burn certain parts in a controlled way every few years. This is generally good for grassland ecology.

I don't think these lapwings would be found in fields of wheat, except after the wheat has been harvested or when it's freshly planted and still short.

One day when I was living with my parents, I came home to find my outdoor cat in the laundry room. It wasn't raining or snowing, and my mom didn't like cat hair on her furniture, so I asked her why.

'The birds were mobbing Niki, so I felt sorry for her and let her in,' she said. smiley - cat

It was baby-bird-flying-lesson day and they were armed against predators. smiley - laugh

The birds here are pretty alert, when I walk Sagrys outside, they make it clear they're aware of him, such as the babblers turning up in a group and scolding him.

smiley - laugh Yep. We can tell when that outdoor cat in the neighbourhood is skulking around. They start telling each other to watch out.

They do this for hawks, too.
