Colours of the World

European Peacock butterfly seen out the window on some aster flowers.

Tavaron wins the internet this week. That European Peacock butterfly can be seen in all its glory further down the page. What glories we see, and all for free. This past week on h2g2, Willem has been explaining how he crossed the Limpopo River and stood around in Botswana for a few minutes, while Tavaron and I have been chatting about Star Trek and green stinkbugs. Meanwhile, Bluebottle's spotted another intriguing high voltage sign. It's all grist to the mill for our imaginations

This week, Willem tells you about Myotragus, the really strange goat/lizard of antiquity. Caiman Raptor Elk takes you on a chuckle-worthy tour of the Dutch educational system. Awix reviews two movies. FWR sets the record straight on the Pegasus Bridge, while Solnushka shows us random photogenic buildings in Moscow. Take a whirlwind tour of wonders with us, and learn some new things.

History has lessons for us to learn. From the past comes a suggestion for dealing with the UK fuel shortage. I've unearthed a really hair-raising memoir from the US Civil War, and will never look at those guts-and-glory movies the same way again. Galaxy Babe has some evocative photos that make us think hard about castles.

We gripe and giggle about daily life. FWR writes a poem about night shift food. We find things to laugh at and scratch our heads over.

The Create Team remind us that this month is Blooper Reel month. You owe us a confession about something weird you did. Also a heads-up for the November writers: the month is almost upon us! Get to work on your preparations for Twice-Told Tales. We expect to be entertained.

Have a great week! We'll be back next time with more Stuff. (Send more Stuff!) Remember: only you can prevent people from being Wrong on the Internet. Correct a nincompoop today.

Quote of the Week: I possess a device, in my pocket, that is capable of accessing the entirety of information known to man. I use it to look at pictures of cats and get in arguments with strangers.
