MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship. Posted May 25, 2023
I was, and am, a great fan of The Chieftains. My parents introduced me to them and I remember my father had the first 10 albums. I met them backstage at the Granville Theatre, Ramsgate, where they very kindly signed a poster that I had to pinch off a wall as management wouldn’t allow me to have one.
Interesting that Derek Bell signed his with the D of Derek being a harp. He was a little full of himself and a bit pompous but the rest of the band were really friendly and chatty even though they were in a hurry to pack up.
I find it hard to fathom why some don’t like Irish music when The Chieftains were so accomplished, and could incorporate Irish music linking with American, Chinese or almost any other nation’s folk music.
I’ll miss your music, Sèan but I have many tracks to replay and think of the pleasure you have given me over the years.
