Some oldfashioned diners have mounted animals on the walls

The picture reminds me of the decor in one of my late father's favorite diners, which had stuffed bears, dear, etc.

I can't say that it's sporting to kill an animal just for the head, or for stuffing it, but if you are killing for food (and in some far northerly regions, there aren't many plants growing in the dead of winter), why waste a good head?

Many years ago I was with some friends in the Rhenish countryside. We stopped for a meal at an inn.

The boar's head on the wall was several feet across. The tusks were like those of an elephant. It was the biggest hog I've ever seen. A plaque said it had been hunted and killed about 200 years before.

There are huge hybrid hogs in Canada that have escaped form captivity and are headed for the U.S. where they are likely to raise havoc. smiley - sadface

have-hog?

Isn't this a warning to always turn on your headlights when driving in the countryside?

I am not going to mention rabbits and the Reliant Robin. (if you see headlights, aim for the middle and duck)

Is that why people trying to find staff are called headhunters?

For reasons of visibility, I always drive with my lights on (as most people do around here).

I drive a black car. In broad daylight, I expect that people will be able to see my car, but in cloudy weather or at night, you can be sure my lights will be on
