The reference in footnote 1?

You must mean: "How Henry Letterbox Rose from the Dead In His Spare Time1" There are no other footnotes numbered 1 (I searched every recurrence of the numeral 1 -- all 18 of them -- in the Post, and the letterbox one was the only actual footnote).

I'm happy with FWR's story, and I look forward to many more storis by him. smiley - ok

Yes, the footnote is to the header. So?

You said something about people not getting the reference. I was checking to see if the Letterbox header was what you referred to. It occurs to me that in a previous Letterbox story, he (or someone else; don't remember exactly) was asked t play Christ. I don't need to say what Christ did, but Letterbox would be well cast in a way.

Ah. smiley - laugh Yes, the footnote refers to Henry, but to get the reference you'd have to have read Philip K Dick's 'A Maze of Death'.

Two people can look at the same thing and see different things in it. hence the ink blot tests. smiley - smiley And many of the captions of Post photos.

Things that don't need to be explained often turn out to need explanation.

Dick's works are very thought-provoking. Or maybe just provoking smiley - flustered

This one isn't open to interpretation. It's merely an obscure reference. In Dick's 'A Maze of Death', there is a sacred text. This text was concocted by him and Charles Bukowski. It's called 'How I Rose from the Dead in My Spare Time, and So Can You.'

Be my guest about not caring.

I was interpreting the relationship between your title and FWR's story.

All I can hope for is that you understand where I am coming from. I do care about that.

FWR

Mr Letterbox is now supplying a rather brilliant correspondence course on how to live forever, £3097.89 plus p&p, (no guarantee of eternal life) but you do get a nice certificate at the end.

Got to do something in his spare time. (and it may provide DG with another bizarre Entry... Give it a century or so!)

I'd like a longer life, but as a younger version of myself. Otherwise the Struldbruggs come to mind (Gulliver's travels). They become less happy. smiley - sadface
