We've had four years of extreme excitement and over-promising. The end of the period was full of danger from sickness and even death.
Eventually we will want excitement again, but it's all right to want calmness and reassurance.

Here's another take on Lady Gaga's national anthem.

She mixes 3/4 and 4/4 times. There are jazz chords. There's syncopation where you didn't expect it.
Normally, it's in 3/4 time, like a waltz. Now, John Philip Sousa had
done the piece in 4/4, and artists including Whitney Houston had done likewise.
ON "rocket's red glare," Gaga is in 3/4, while the orchestra is in 4/4.
She holds a whole bunch of high notes, making them intense beyond what they normally are.

For a long time, it was illegal to reharmonize the national anthem. In 1944, Igor Stravinski broke the law by reharmonizing it.
