Yeah, mostly. Remember, we are in the northern Appalachians.

170 ft long? Jeez, how many were seriously hurt rowing those beasts I wonder, and how many went at one time?

I'm not sure how many at a time - dozens, at least. I know there were three big runs a year, when the rivers were at flood.
There was some enormous amount of board footage that got floated down the river at that time. It's true: the main business the doctors had at that time was timber-related, I think.

I wonder how fast they were going. I have done some white water rafting myself, but that is just a small raft. I suspect the big ones didn't go that fast...

For the speed I still need the river cross section. I guess 146 cubic feet per second isn't that much flow for a moderate sized river.
