That is a really neat trick and I wonder how their organs are different from the big ones that they can manage it,

Hello Elektra! I don't think they actually process the water ... they filter out the bacteria as they feed and let the excess watern drip out of their beaks. They drink fresh water to offset whatever of the alkali water they ingested in the feeding process.

Still they must have some kind of physiologic tricks to not get their skin burnt from the water!
