Not that I would expect to see Romans in togas wandering among the ruins. So, I take it that this is a historical site?
And why is the river so far away? Did it change course? Or was the town moved elsewhere?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, it is a historical site. The floors of the original buildings are under the current ground level and archeologists dig them out and they are re-erected with original techniques and as accurately as possible. Most of the city is still covered by fields.
