A Conversation for Grasshopper and Cricket

Do crickets get along with grasshopper.s?

Partly to annoy my parents, I brought some crickets into our basement. For a while, they established a population there.

In recent years, grasshoppers would hop onto my coneflowers when they were in bloom. Unafraid of me, the grasshopper would just stare back at me

This year, rabbits and woodchucks and whatever else is around have been eating coneflower leaves. This won't kill the coneflowers. They have survived years of this, plus a lucky few buds get big enough to bloom and set seed, which germinates with great enthusiasm.

At first, I though your cricket was a beetle. smiley - erm

I pity the crickets in the basement. smiley - erm

Good luck with the flowers! Good that they don't get eaten completely!

That is a superb photo of the grasshopper - the shadows are amazing and really show off the textures smiley - magic

The cricket is impressively shiny and it is fascinating to see the textures on the wings smiley - applause

I'm guessing that the coneflowers will still be around after the woodchucks have gone.
