This is a magical picture.smiley - smiley

The light fitting looks like a magic pendulum, which swings for a while, then stops and points at something important.

It reminds me of the smiley - disco light that was suspended from the ceiling of the hall that my trailer park association used to rent for February pot-luck suppers. We would sometimes dance. Other times, a high school sports coach who moonlighted as a one-man band would entertain.

Thanks mvp! Yes, it is a bit like a pendulum, in fact. I never saw that before. Pendulums are kind of magic, now I feel happy with my pendulum shadow. I will ask it questions if I ever see it again. smiley - kiss

Great memories, paulh!

I love the one man band.

What's a pot luck supper?

Southerners call it 'covered dish supper'. It's when everyone brings something for a buffet meal. smiley - smiley

This one reminds me of a hot air balloon. For some reason an old Slimcia bread advert is now stuck in my head! *It's a new and exciting world* indeed!

I love pot luck suppers. My church used to have them regularly. I looked forward to the macaroni and hamburg, and the salads with the sweet dressings. They had fancy china; it was a thrill to have my tea cup filled with coffee and cream.

I was way out in the country, and this was a slice of the elegant life.

Then church ladies were really good at making desserts. I still have a copy of The Bolton Cookbook, where they b out their iconic recipes.

We had a farm wife who did a takeoff on Julia Child in the annual show that the Couples Club put on. It was an original comedy, written by someone in the congregation. Its theme was TV, and it was "Vidiot's delight. 'This was in the sixties when things were more innocent. Anyway, this farm woman nailed Julia. She was always heavy set.Like most of here contemporaries, she had no guilt about eating butter and eggs (which she probably got from her own farm.. Those desserts had white flour and plenty of sugar. You'd think that this would not lead to very long lives but the lady lived well into her nineties. We usually had a centenarian or two in town, and my father, at 99, was the second oldest citizen. We also had some pistol-packing grandmothers who took no nonsense from intruders.

It was a great place to live if you didn't want to be afraid of your food.

This is a great photo!

It does look like a hot air balloon, as the cable is almost hidden in the light! Great shadow, too - I like shadows A87983158smiley - winkeye

Peggy lee had a nice smile, I think.

That song brings back memories, as I sang that song in a college singing group. Those were the days when I was in my prime. smiley - smiley

If this is topic drift, is it really so bad? smiley - winkeye
