The bottom one on the left is probably an ancient Keep. Why don't the build keeps anymore? So many reasons, so little time! (The first Keep was the Tower of London, built by William I)
1. expensive to build (Only the wealthiest could afford them)
2. they were square, so attackers could tunnel under one corner and destabilize the whole structure
3. Having flat sides meant that a large stone fired by a trebuchet could inflict major damage
4. They may have been fireproof (mnot made of wood), but if attackers could get flaming arrows high enough to go in, the keeps would turn into chimneys.

These are from ye old town of Beccles or within a few miles of the town. It is on the Broads as I explained to the editor, waterways created by locals digging up peat. The tower is the ruins of a church, one of three in a row, the most recent of which didn't come out (Catholic, red brick building):Child Harold, to the tower came, popped into my mind when I saw the wreck (Byron poem).

Oh by the way, the other building is at the entrance to a local farm.

You're welcome. I thought I had told Dmitri all this but you know what it's like when you are old and feeble minded or at least he aught to (or is that me?)

As I am English I shall sulk at that comment. As for Dmitri wanting to kill me,well I did try to get his address in order to send him a parcel bomb but he was having none of it (I have never forgiven him for encouraging me to write an entry and I never will...English huffiness coming through).

There's also the weight on his shoulder, from having living in the South, tolerated those 17-year insects, living in an area that's overshadowed by the glamor of Pittsburgh, etc.
But he's okay in spite of it all.
And, he's got me.

That first one is strangely familiar...but that's a story best kept til April if I'm correct. Norfolk Broads?

Norfolk broads, for our American cousins, is waterways and not women from Norfolk

Above all, you're an institution, Dmitri. I just hope those other institutions in the photos will see better days....
