Daddy Long legs is no quite as terrifying as spiders

I'm fine with the little spiders. The bigger they get, the more concerned I become. I give them a sporting chance. If they run away quickly enough (which they usually do), get them go in peace.
Somebody's got to eat the bugs, right?

Although I hate them, I wouldn't kill them either

Well, the species would make a difference. If I find a black widow in my shoe, I wouldn't want to let it reproduce. Okay, so no one in the U.S. has died form a black widow spider bite in the last ten years, but I would not like to be the first.
Small children, and people in poor health, would have the most to fear form spider bites. And, of course, many insects, which are the spiders' intended prey.

Yes, daddy long legs are unpredictable in behaviour, but at least they fly away rather than crawling round where I am so they don't bother me like spiders do...
"I'm fine with the little spiders. The bigger they get, the more concerned I become." - very true, although I am less bothered by 'water spiders' because they look more like daddy long legs and behave in a more predictable way, as they tend to move more slowly than ones of a similar size with bigger bodies.
I once saw a water spider catch another spider! A87855268

When you said water spiders, I thought of water striders, which can often be seen walking across h surface of pools. Trout love to eat them.

Ah, yes - I don’t mind pond skaters etc because they are outside so we can easily leave each other alone

I don't mind them either. trout have to eat something.
But web had them in the little in front of the house I grew up in. There were no trout there. I'm wondering whether he dragonfly larvae ate them.
