This apparently is a memorial to the last meeting place for the Covenanters1 in the Highlands. There was a similar meeting place in Ayrshire at Failford Gorge, called Pulpit Rock. Apparently a preacher stood on one side of the river and shouted his sermon across to the congregation on the other bank.
