Polka's 2/4 time. I just found out that 'pulka' is a Czech word meaning 'half', referring to the cut time signature. Cool to know. Allegedly polkas were invented by a bored young lady in Bohemia.

"How many bored young ladies are there in Bohemia?" might be an interesting pub quiz question.

That was a Shakespeare joke. One of his plays starts on the 'seacoast of Bohemia'. People always laugh, but back then, Bohemia had a seacoast.
