Bridge

Bridge by Dmitri Gheorgheni
As thou dost desire, o holy one, so shalt thou be: holy shalt thou cause thy soul to pass over the Chinvat bridge [to heaven].

Zend-Avesta

The water of confusion is wide.

I have no reason to cross o'er

Unless I glimpse, on the other side,

Someone I want to reach more

Than I want to stay safe and hide.

So maybe I need a boat.

No, wait. How about a road?

It's hard to keep afloat,

But a bridge will carry the load

Of the people behind me who note,

And maybe want to come.

It could be they're looking, too,

For signs of the side that they're from,

Maybe they just need a clue,

A hint that the far side's still home?
