St John's Beacon, the original Liverpool Eye. Nice use of shapes and tones in this photo, the cloud level adds to the geometry. Whether you stand under the beacon looking up, or in the tower looking down, it's still a pretty impressive building! (Glad you don't have to eat as the tower rotates anymore….that wasn't pleasant….yeuck!)

Impressive shot. The horizontal structure of the clouds add an interesting background, well done.
This is enhanced by the windows on the buildings, they have an eye catching vertical layout that compliment the clods.

Well observed and interesting image, well thought out very well!

Oooh one of my favourite type landscapes. I return to strange radio tower landscapes in dreams. Home ...

And it has to be black and white for that real mysterious feeling. It does? It does.

Even though I've not heard of St John's Beacon. What happened to the rotating restaurant then?

It rotates counterclockwise, which means that it has been going backward in time since it was built. At one pint it blinked out of existence, and is now only found as solutions to clues in crossword puzzles. Or Pussworsd Crozzles. smiley - online2long

My poor knees can testify that it's not an easy climb when the electrics off!

I never knew it as a rotating restaurant, but I imagine The Restaurant at the End of The Universe to resemble it!

I would have enjoyed the Buck Rogers Space Theme, although I'm not sure I would have enjoyed eating while rotating, but I see from w*k*pedia that the restaurant closed in 1983 because of lack of business smiley - blue It is good news that it was made into radio studios to save it, and the tower is also now open to visitors to look out on the panorama of Liverpool smiley - ok
